This is a long shot, but does anyone know if any of the various online video game databases have information regarding game saving? I want to know what games save using batteries, memory cards, flash RAM, passwords, codes, etc. I've found bits and pieces of info here and there but nothing exhaustive. Even if all you know about is a thread on a forum where users have created lists of save types for a specific system like this: http://nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=5&threadid=84455 it's still helpful.

I'm looking for this info because I keep an unnecessarily detailed list of all the games I own and want, and this is one of the pieces of data I'd like to add to it. If I can't find a better source, I'll end up just testing each game individually or checking it's manual if available. And if you want me to make the information I put together on saving available when I'm done, I'd be happy to do so!

Thanks for the help!

I know the information is out there. I'm not sure if you'll find anything that's organized and wrapped in a bow, but it's out there. I know some people have compiled beautiful spread sheets for various consoles containing game information (titles, checksums, save-types, date of release, etc), but I don't know if they made them public. If you do end up perhaps compiling something like an excel document with multiple sheets (1 for each console) showing various information for each game on the console (hopefully including all games), it is definitely something I would be interested in having for reference.

I currently have separate spreadsheets for each system I own (and a few I want). The game list is currently limited to the games I own or want, but I may some day expand it to complete game lists if I ever decide to expand my passion for game collecting to include complete system libraries. The information for each game currently includes: Game Title, Region, Availability (Do I own it, is it digital, is it CIB), Art (Do I have custom art), Manual (PDF or paper), Save Type (work in progress), Rarity, Rating, Genre, Developer, Publisher, Release Date, Series, # (in series), Also On (Other releases or exclusive), and additional Notes. If the game title is Japanese I have and English translation noted. Some of the lists have system exclusive information such as control scheme (for Atari & Wii), Game Genie codes, Price, or DLC. Some of the spreadsheets are still a work in progress, especially for those systems which I do not own, such as the Neo Geo or Intellivision.
