SM64 CoverArt... 10 years of owning and searching online instead...

Super Mario 64... the most owned N64 game... with one of the worst covers on TheCoverProject... (debatable, but unacceptable).

From the request, I mean, I guess, from twilight for the Crash Bandicoot strategy guide, I had an inkling...

First off lets post all the covers of this front from TCP



Not bad... but not good... (I guess) and this had led me to searching for the dang artwork for the SM64 world behind mario.



And you would have Wiggys attempt like in Ocarina of time screenshots (way to use the wrong game!)


You have had people recreating the background because it's been so dang hard to find


But still... there is nothing..


Hell, even if I scan my own (disgusting) box, it's freaking terrible


Mario is always in the front...

We have the Mario flying, all we need is that dang background...

Well... fast forward to an hour ago...  I'm trying to re-organize my new strategy guides into storage boxes as I haven't pulled out the storage cases in... a good year and a half...  (thank you Taketheword for a couple of them!,  I guess)


and for s***s and giggles I went to see if I have any Super Mario 64 strategy guides... I do... 3 of them


I look through 2 of them with nothing... so I opened up the 3rd


Right in the first 8ish pages...

That's awesome, I guess. 

But in all honesty, that's an amazing book collection you have there! Super jealous over here. And what a good find, It will be great to see a better-than-original box for Mario 64, the Zelda one that was posted a while back was great to watch come together, I look forward to another entertaining thread in my future!

Well, I guess, since I had two of these guides I was going to rip out the page to scan it and I wanted to see which guide was in *worse* shape.  The result?  The other guide is brand new and has deeper and richer colors, the heck?

Even though there is a light glare on the right, the right guide has faded colors, I've never heard of this before.

You should think of a proper title for this thread. (Maybe something like "Artwork for Super Mario 64"...)
And state your intentions at the start of your post, not at the end. ("Found / scanned artwork for Mario 64. This is important because...")

You don't understand "suspense" I am guessing.  The title was never meant to "stay" what it was, it was more a "are you kidding me.. I've had it forever" moment to facepalm to.  Your response was too premature as my intentions were to change it by the end of the day to something more appropriate (unlike some people who request covers).

This thread is really not that hard to follow, unless pictures confuse you.

My only intentionally confusing posts were to Wiggy about him never buying a NES Classic and it was great making him confused when he did finally buy one..    You guys let him get away with too much crap and make him feel great about himself.  Psh... 3DS screenshots for a N64 game...  Someone's a little sour about using the wrong console on a cover and having one person point it out. <-- Apparently I have to have a *sarcastic* tag here for those who are not getting this is a joke.

Yes, but if I post the pictures, that's a thread hijack and not the purpose of this, which would make it even more confusing for your brain.

6 Guides total, 5 unique, 4 different games - DKC is unauthorized though, so probably not the one you are looking for.

Just had to laugh, I look at all the needed NES covers that Shenske needs and I'm the jerk buying them all.  So much contributing with Screenshots... artwork... covers... i'm such the ass, I guess

Smooth Dude.  It's getting a bit hot in here.  Wiggy doesn't submit his covers for precisely this reason.  It's not a question of putting in effort, it's a question of looking good on the shelf over painstaking accuracy.

Can't tell how much of this is tongue in cheek, but either way, lets turn it down a notch. 😜

The entire thing with Wiggy is a joke (me messing with him).  His response, that was not.  I respect what he does, but after spending a week recreating Zelda screenshots, it's fun to brag.  I mean its not like Wiggy has ever bragged about his work before.
