Finally got one of these guys from eBay for almost retail price including shipping! I have modded it to look (software wise) exactly the same as the USA/EU Classic NES, with English games as well. I'm happy. Don't need the American version now (unless I find it cheap, I suppose).

Normally, yeah. Mine is identical to the US one now, but the Famicom Mini normally only has Japanese language, and looks like this:

Yeah, I looked up some vids on it. It's not terribly different. Just the language, which system it is, some colors and a few sprites.

Yep.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

Right, BUT... the inside motherboard is the EXACT SAME as the NES board, meaning you can wire up Wii Classic Controller extension cables into it. I have plans to do that and make it look very nice and Wiggy-like.

The retail of the Japanese, I believe is about the same as the US, $60. I paid $70 shipped. Not bad for an extra (tiny) controller.

I will post pics of it after my "surgery". I'm waiting on my package of 10 Wii extension cables.

After removing the Famicom controllers, you could solder the end to the end of an extension cable with some shrink tubing (essentially just add a connector to the end). Then you could still use the Famicom controllers.

I'm wondering if I could either have them both connected at the same time, (the SNES/NES to Wii Classic adapter allows an NES and SNES controller connected, and both still work) or have switches to flip between them.

Today, April 24th, I got an American NES Classic as well by standing in line at Best Buy at 5am this morning!

MAN! LUCKY!

I'll get a big group shot of all the things I've picked up from Half Price Books this month shortly.
