Hey everyone,

I am somewhat limited in space (as in I have about half a wall) for my collection. I don't want to case up my entire NES/SNES/N64 collection due to it taking up way too much space, but I do want to have manuals when possible. Does anyone have any suggestions for storing manuals? My ideal storage solution would be something about the height/width of a DVD case (thickness irrelevant) that can hold multiple manuals. Perhaps the answer is to just stack manuals inside Shadowfox NES cases. Anyways, does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

I used a 3 ring binder and different photo sheets for my loose manuals.  I don't know the sizes of the sheets off hand but I found a 2 slot sheet that's prefect for SNES / N64 / etc manuals and a 4 slot sheet that works great for NES manuals.

I dremel out UGC's and put all my Atari Jaguar manuals in them.  It's a pain but each case fits like 10-20 manuals depending on the thickness..

Atari Manuals are notoriously thick because they are in a bunch of different languages so you may be able to fit even more nintendo manuals.

I put all my Nintendo manuals in my cases personally...

There is some cool "manual" insert art for the Jaguar UGC's, I would be surprised if there wasn't something similar for the Big N out there.

You could also try Amaray Megapack cases.
They are 64mm thick (or about 5 DVD cases wide). The disc holders inside can be removed, I think.

Here is an example where someone uses them to case controllers and other accessories:

Perhaps I will just go with what I was originally thinking -- take Shadowfox's NES cases and simply cut out the tabs. Once I decide on a storage solution, I'll post some pictures.

If you intend to go that far why not just use UGCs instead? Cheaper to get and easier to cut the tabs out of. It also makes me sad to cut ShadowFox cases.

Shadowfox's cases look nicer. I don't care for the texture of the UGC's insert sleeve. Also, I like Shadowfox's OEM-DS gray. I don't mind cutting his cases because it just means I'm buying more of his cases. No matter what you do with them, it still supports him.  ;)

^^^^^  Yeah, current UGC quality has gone way down hill.   :-\
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

I just had a pretty great idea IMO. I think I'm going to use 7mm DVD cases (half thickness of normal) for manual storage. Having the manual (inside a 7mm dvd case) + the loose cart will still take up far less space than a UGC or CGC case. Also, it means I'm only using that extra space if I have the manual for that game. It shouldn't take much to make a template which can adapt current UGC or CGC covers. Then they can be printed on Letter size paper (vs Legal size used with the aforementioned cases). I think this might actually look very good.

EDIT: I just wanted to add to this. By doing that ^, it also means the artwork of the game is available/on display (which is half the reason we like custom cases so much).

I made a quick mock-up of this concept. This doesn't necessarily represent the final product nor the vision, but I think it shows the idea behind it.

EDIT: Better version below.

I like it. And I don't think it's just because it's Zelda.

I use double-width dvd cases for all my console games (getting any other cases shipped to Australia is just too expensive) but I've just been storing my manuals in a suitcase to keep them safe. So I think I might actually end up doing this (or something similar, anyway.)

Thanks!
