ITunes and Macbook questions

Hi guys,

I'm surprised I hadn't posted this in the pick up thread, anyway picked up an old Macbook in November and just now got a charger,  so I'm moving from Windows iTunes to Mac iTunes,

My question is what's going to happen when I plug my ipod in?

You will most likely loose all your songs lol.
The only way you won't, is to make sure you unstick all the music backup boxes but even then, apple shit does what it want and will prolly delete them anyway.

Download a third party until first and back up your media.  I use Copy trans manager on the PC.

Download a third party until first and back up your media.  I use Copy trans manager on the PC.

Was hoping I wouldn't have to do this, but got something DL'D, transferring is gonna take ages with nearly 2000 songs at 10 songs a time!

If you already have all of your music backed up on windows, just transfer them to a hard drive and then transfer them to mac in the iTunes media folder. Then open them in iTunes and reset up all your backup preferences. You may have to redictate all off the songs, apps, and other media you want but it really doesn't take that long.

Unfortunately the HDD with my iTunes on died a couple of years ago, so the only place where my music library is, is on my ipod...

Ya, you're kinda screwed then man. Sorry. You don't have any cd's that you could re download? If you bought your music through iTunes you should be good.

Even as a long time iPhone user and Apple fanboy, I can say without a doubt that managing music through iTunes sucks.

My opinion: sync your MP3s through a third party utility to your computer, and avoid Apple's music apps like the plague. Even the Music app works terribly on anything higher than iOS 8.

I wouldn't say it's bad by any means myself. But there is pros and cons to everything. I really liked my Blackjack in the day because I could just drag and drop everything I wanted onto the phone. But even now with androids still being the same, unless you are a Android/Windows/whatever phone guru, they can end up a mess.
iTunes on the other hand, it's kind of a pain to learn how to use (especially with every new update), it's pretty streamline and a clean interface. Though I will say I've hated everything about apples iOS ever since 7. (I really wish I could have a modernized iOS 6 back.

But that's the beauty of it. Apple is almost stupid proof. And they are designed to be that way. Everything else is like, "Hey, we are letting you do what you want. You fuck it up, it's you're problem."

update for those interested...

using a free program called sharepod i was successfully able to back up my iPod to iTunes, total songs after this part 1962, then because the cd drive was dead, (of course...) , i had to hook up an external drive to transfer the music i'd bought since the last update, having done that successfully total songs were 2083, then i thought, "y'know what, i should really do a purge, get rid of the songs i hate/don't really listen to..." ended up deleting nearly 500 songs! final total at the point of re-syncing 1591.

lets keep the thread open, sometimes i don't like googling for answers...

The other option is just to instal and older than dirt version of iTunes. I have 6.0 or something like that on my PC. Back when you could just drag and drop item in and out of your iPod
