I didn't know that Corvette ZR-1 Challenge was only released in Europe. We got that game in the USA as Race America instead? This is so fascinating. I like the European title better. I don't have a scan of Corvette ZR-1 Challenge. I made a note of what cover you would like. It would be my first time making a custom cover.

Yeah, I didn't know either until I looked it up from your poster. The Corvette title is way better. I guess the reason was they couldn't get the Chevy license here and changed all the Corvettes to Dodge Vipers. I've never played either version. Just thought it would be fun to have US covers of all the games on that poster.

Rockabilly1983 strikes back with two more covers for your collection. I bring you one cover in two versions again. This time it's Ghostbusters. I picked up the 2nd version with the oval Seal of Quality at the video game swap meet in Portland, OR back in January 2020. The copy I bought was unique. The cover of the instruction manual was signed, "James AVGN". I'm so stoked I found a copy of Ghostbusters with James Rolfe's autograph. Do you know how hard it is to find used NES games signed by James Rolfe? This is one of the coolest things you can have in your video game collection. Imagine getting one of your favorite video games autographed by the guy that plays the Angry Video Game Nerd. It's electrifying! For the price of $40, it was worth every penny. The Angry Video Game Nerd may hate this game, but I like it. Be sure to buy the Ghost Alarm at the beginning of the game. It will help you see which buildings are blinking red when you're so far away. Be sure to earn enough money to buy the Anti-Ghost Suit and the Sound Generator. Those two items will help you a lot on the stairway. Earn at least $130,000 before you buy them. When you do that, the scrolling message, "Enter Zuul Building" will still be on the screen.

Now let me tell you a little bit about the cover I did. I looked on the main site and found Lumberjack42's Ghostbusters cover for the universal game case. It was the 1st version with the round Nintendo seal. This helped a lot. I didn't have to buy the 1st version of Ghostbusters. I used part of his cover as a reference to see where the round Nintendo seal needs to be on the front and back. The words, "Licensed by Nintendo for play on the Nintendo Entertainment System" had to be moved down a little for the 1st version after I completed the 2nd version. For the back, I just had to copy and paste part of the back from Lumberjack42's cover. After that, I lined it up as close as I could. Then I had both Nintendo seals in place. Be sure to check back often. I will have another cover up for you then. Happy gaming!

Hey, all you video game players and collectors out there! I'm back with more covers and this update packs an incredible punch! This is something many people have waited for. It's Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! and Punch-Out!! There are three box variants of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! and two box variants of Punch-Out!! As an added bonus, a letter from Mike Tyson is also here. Did you know? Every new copy of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! included a letter from Mike Tyson. The original letter is rare and worth $40 - $50 by itself. Many people threw away this letter back then. I don't understand why people would throw it away. Now you can print out a fully restored copy of Mike Tyson's letter and include it with your copy of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! I measured the letter very carefully. It is 8.44" x 11". Do you know which cover of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! you need? I'm going to help you identify which version you may have so you can print out the correct cover.

First, look at your cartridge label. Does your cartridge label have the round Nintendo Seal? If it does, you may have the 1st or 2nd version. The box art has REV-A on Version 2, but not on Version 1. Both cartridge labels do not have REV-A next to the round Nintendo Seal. You will need to look at the sentence bullets. Are the bullets white or orange? If the bullets are white, you have Version 1. If the bullets are orange, you have Version 2. Does your cartridge label have the oval Seal of Quality? If it does, you have Version 3.

Here's something interesting about Punch-Out!! It came out after Mike Tyson got in trouble. The last boxer is Mr. Dream instead of Mike Tyson. Mr. Dream fights in the same style as Mike Tyson. Both games play exactly the same. Both covers of Punch-Out!! have the oval Seal of Quality and the red bar at the top with the system name. Version 2 is slightly different. Although it has the same red bar with the system name, the red bar also has the words, "Classic Series". None of the Punch-Out!! cartridge labels have the red bar at the top. Only the box art has it. Here is how to identify the two versions of Punch-Out!!:

Look at the bottom-left corner of your cartridge label. Version 1 has the system name with the Nintendo logo. Version 2 has the system name all in letters without the Nintendo logo. You can see what I'm talking about if you look at the system name logos on the bottom of the spines on the full retail covers of Punch-Out!!

Now I'm going to tell you about the spelling and grammar mistakes I fixed. I'm going to start with Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! There was only one grammar mistake. It had "knockout" on the last sentence. Knockout is an adjective. The sentence talks about knocking out Mike Tyson. In this sentence, we are supposed to say "knock out", which is a verb. When I fixed the grammar mistake, I had to edit some of the spacing between the words. Here are two sample sentences using knock out and knockout:

Knock out (verb)
I'm going to knock out Mike Tyson and become the new boxing champion.

Knockout (adjective)
The woman behind the front desk is a real knockout. Although you can only see down to her waist, what you see is what you like.

Ha ha ha! That is an actual sentence from Leisure Suit Larry 6: Shape Up or Slip Out. You hear that at the very beginning of the game. Leisure Suit Larry is one of my favorite graphic adventure game trilogies. This post is all about the covers for Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! and Punch-Out!! I don't want to get too off topic.

Now I will talk about the spelling and grammar mistakes I fixed on Punch-Out!! Both versions had "reissue" spelled with a dash. That word isn't spelled with a dash. I removed the dash after retyping the text. On Version 2, the word "heavyweights" was spelled with a dash. Heavyweights is not spelled with a dash either. I removed the dash on that word too. Best-selling was missing a dash and I added it. I have always seen "best-selling" spelled with a dash. The sentence that starts, "Dance left, then right, dodging punches and throwing your own", needed a comma right after, "Dance left". "Gameplay" on Version 1 was spelled as two words on the disclaimer text. It's now correctly spelled as one word. That's the last mistake I corrected. Logos have been traced into solid vectors. They're also available in my Vector Logos folder for anyone who needs them. These covers took so much work. I'm very happy to finally have these up. I have been wanting to do these covers for so long. The boxes had so much wear. I had to rigorously clean the scans.

If you made it this far, congratulations! I enjoy talking about how I restore these covers. Right now, you guys are probably chomping at the bit to download these covers. This is the longest post I have ever written in this forum thread. Well guys, head on down below and download those covers! Stay tuned for more new ones. Happy gaming!

How's it going, everybody? Rockabilly1983 is back with another NES cover. Here is an interesting cover for all of you. It's Version 1 of Super Mario Bros. 3. You're probably thinking, "Wait a minute, rockabilly1983! Didn't you already make a cover of Super Mario Bros. 3?" Yes, I did. However, I didn't know there was another version of Super Mario Bros. 3. This version has "Bros." on the left instead of on the right. The screenshots are also different. Version 1 is hard to find and goes for more money than Version 2 which is common. I saw a copy of it in January when I was in Portland, Oregon for the video game swap meet. That is how I found out about Super Mario Bros. 3 having a left Bros. version. I had to wait until I could find a complete in box copy that wasn't priced too high on eBay. I got an offer for 10% off from the seller when I added a complete in box copy to my watch list. I played both USA versions of Super Mario Bros. 3 and I found two differences in the game. Here is the first one:

Version 1 Card Matching Game
Toad says, "Flip over any two cards and see if they match. Miss twice and your out!"

This game contains an actual grammar mistake. The last sentence is supposed to say, "Miss twice and you're out!" They couldn't fit "you're" because there wasn't enough room in the text box.

Version 2 Card Matching Game
Toad says, "Flip over any two cards and see if they match. You can only miss twice!"

Here is the second one:

Version 1 Princess Toadstool's Letter
"You can stomp on your enemies using Kuribo's shoe. I have enclosed a jewel that helps protect you."

Version 2 Princess Toadstool's Letter
"You can stomp on your enemies using Goomba's shoe. I have enclosed a jewel that helps protect you."

Did you know? "Kuribo" is the Japanese name for "Goomba". I guess Nintendo decided to change Kuribo to Goomba so American players wouldn't get confused. You see this letter after you complete World 2. I thought you guys would find that interesting. If your copy of Super Mario Bros. 3 has Bros. on the left, consider yourself lucky. You have the first, hard to find version. If you need to buy the manual for your copy of Super Mario Bros. 3 with Bros. on the left, check the front cover of the manual to see where "Bros." is. Most instruction manuals you will find on eBay has "Bros." on the right.

I would like to give a shout out to JackieX. Good job on those covers! I wasn't aware that E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial was released on the NES by Khan Games. I also noticed the other cover for Larry and the Long Look for a Luscious Lover. From what I could see in the screenshots, that is the first Leisure Suit Larry game. The original name is Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards. I will need to buy this game someday. I mentioned a sentence from Leisure Suit Larry in my previous post with Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! and Punch-Out!! Now there is a cover for the first Leisure Suit Larry game on NES. Talk about a coincidence!

Anyway, back to Super Mario Bros. 3. If you're looking for Version 2, the cover is on page 6. I also updated the image name by adding Version 2 in parenthesis. If you look very carefully, the drop shadows on the Super Mario Bros. 3 logo are slightly different. The drop shadows on Version 1 are thin. The drop shadows on Version 2 are thick. Both logos are available in vector format in my Box account for anyone who needs them. I feel good having finished another cover. I will have some more covers up soon. Take care and stay safe, everyone!

Hi, everybody! I'm back with two Konami classics: Top Gun and Top Gun: The Second Mission. The sequel took the most work. Every NES Konami game I have seen uses the font Eras for the information text. When I acquired Top Gun: The Second Mission, I was surprised to see they used the font Helvetica instead. Why did Konami use Helvetica instead of Eras? I don't understand it. I have made three aviation related video game covers so far. Something great happened last month. My brother earned his pilot's license on Wednesday May 6, 2020. I went flying with him for the 2nd time on Sunday May 10, 2020. It was Mother's Day. My youngest nephew came along too. It was my first time flying in a 4-seater. My brother's 4-seater airplane was all finished and ready for flying. I liked the 4-seater better because it's bigger, and flies much smoother. My brother doesn't have his 2-seater airplane anymore because he sold it last month. It was so much fun flying from Sacramento to McClellan Airfield, Chico, and Willows. My brother flies as though he's been flying for years. His very first flight lesson was on August 6, 2016. He finally pursued his dream of flying in his late 40s. I remember how fascinated he was with airplanes when I was a kid. My all-time favorite airplane is the C-5 Galaxy. That is, in my opinion, one of the greatest military airplanes. I flew on those airplanes many times as a kid. They are so big, they can carry a tank; even a jeep. My dad was retired military and that's why we were able to fly on those airplanes. However, we could only fly if there were seats available. If there were no seats, we had to go back home and try again another weekend. We flew on those airplanes to go to Italy because they were free to fly. I could talk about my memories of airplanes some more, but that would take me all day. Enjoy the two Top Gun covers. Happy gaming!

Congratulations to your brother! I've always loved the idea of flying. I took hang gliding lessons for a while and I've flown ultralights. One day I'd love to ride in a biplane. I want to be able to feel the wind on my face as I'm in the air.

Thanks for the great covers!

@StratosVX
Thank you, StratosVX! I don't think I would be brave enough to take a hang gliding lesson. I would like to fly in a biplane someday. Biplanes were used a lot during World War I. I didn't know biplanes are still made today. I thought they were only made during the early years of aviation. I'm very fascinated with aviation.

It's been my pleasure making these covers!

@sheep2001
Thank you for the kind words, sheep2001!

Several years ago I was down in Palm Springs, CA and there was a place where you could pay for a ride in a biplane. I didn't do it because I was visiting my grandparents and we had plans for pretty much the whole trip but I've wanted to go back ever since.

Wow! I didn't know you could do that. It would be a great experience for me. Maybe I can ask my brother to fly me to Palm Springs one weekend. I looked at the map and noticed that Palm Springs is east of Los Angeles. That would be a nice long distance flight. It would take approximately 3 1/2 hours starting from Sacramento Executive Airport.
