Hello, game collector!

Your mission, if you choose to accept it...

Rockabilly1983 — the portable cover master — has made his latest cover for Nintendo Entertainment System. In order to get this cover, you must navigate this post by scrolling down until you come across the links for it. Follow the first link and get the full retail cover of Mission: Impossible or, follow the second link and get the TCP retail cover of Mission: Impossible. Which route you take is up to you. Once you have downloaded your cover, you must turn on your printer. To pull off this operation, you must be daring enough to use semi-gloss paper for the official look. 50lb premium matte paper is a nice alternative. You must use a paper cutter to get nice straight cuts when cutting out the cover. To complete your mission, slide your cover into Shadowfox's NES Custom Game Case.

This forum post will self-destruct in 2 seconds!

Good luck, game collector!

......................................................BOOM!

Ha ha ha ha! Did you really think this forum post was going to explode? Ha ha ha ha! Gotcha!

Did everyone have a nice Christmas? My Christmas was a lot of fun. My 2nd oldest nephew got a Super Nintendo Classic Edition. I couldn't believe it. He nearly flipped out. He was so excited to play it too. I have lots of time off from work to spend time with my family. That gave me lots of time to make the cover for Mission: Impossible. There was a grammar mistake on the original box. Speedboat was spelled as two words. I fixed that and it's now one word. I didn't think I would get this cover done so fast. I'm looking forward to my flight next month to Portland, OR for the video game swap meet. What am I going to find? We'll just have to wait and see. Since Christmas has come and gone, I'm going to wish all of you a Happy New Year once again! I will be back with another cover in 2020. See you next time!

Happy New Year, everyone! Here is my first NES cover for 2020! It's Captain Skyhawk. That's not all. The original box also had a Milton Bradley games promo poster. Since posters are big, I had to scan the poster in 4 parts and manually stitch the raw scans together in Photoshop. Not only are you getting my latest NES cover, you're also getting the poster that came with the game. In order to print the poster at its original size, you'll need a large format printer. However, it will still look good if you scale it down to fit on one sheet of paper. One of the most fun things happened in my life. I went flying with my brother for the first time on Friday, December 27, 2019. I met up with him at Sacramento Executive Airport. We flew to Davis first so we could refuel. While we were refueling, I could smell manure. It was very pungent. There are lots of farms around Davis University Airport. After that, we flew to Placerville, took a little break, then we flew to Columbia. When we landed in Columbia, we started getting hungry. We walked over to a cafe to have lunch. The burger I had was so delicious. After lunch, we headed back to the airport and flew to Auburn so I could see his 4 seater airplane. I also got to meet some of the guys that do professional airplane work. After that, we did a touch and go at McClellan Field and flew back to Sacramento Executive Airport. I had so much fun flying in my brother's 2 seater airplane and I can't wait to go flying with him again. Flying has been his dream for so many years. When I was a kid, I remember how fascinated he was with airplanes. He drew many pictures of them. He also played Flight Simulator II on the Atari ST. My brother was 14 when I was born in 1983. Isn't this neat? I started working on an aviation related video game cover after flying with my brother. Talk about a coincidence! The Portland Video Game Swap Meet is in two weeks. I'm all set for my flight to Portland, Oregon! I hope I can find some good deals on complete in box NES games. Are you chomping at the bit to download the cover and poster yet? Well, I better let you go so you can download them. Please enjoy!

Hey guys! I'm back with two more NES covers for your collections. These covers were challenging and it took me three weeks to do these. Silent Service was the most challenging. The Silent Service logo was tricky. I traced the logo into a vector first. After I pasted my vector in, I had to apply a separate gradient overlay to each letter, together with different angles, after copying and pasting one letter at a time. I had to play around with the different colors in the gradient overlay until every letter looked right. It took me two days to recreate the Silent Service logo. There is artwork that goes from the front to the spine. Redrawing the artwork was hard here. When a box has artwork that goes from the front onto the spine, it adds to the difficulty. Overall, I'm very happy with the way Silent Service came out in the end.

The 2nd cover I made is Super Mario Bros. 3. I played this game so much as a kid. I still like this game to this day. My youngest nephew found a loose copy of Super Mario Bros. 3 at EcoThrift last month. I cleaned it for him. He also asked me if I could make a case for him. I helped him case up his other NES games too. I didn't think the front would be so hard. Everything looks simple, except for Mario. I got all the black lines traced into a vector. Now, if Mario was drawn with solid colors, it would have been easy. But here, he has shading. Adding shading to artwork takes a lot of time. It requires a lot of playing around with layers. I used some motion blurs, gradients, and the smudge tool. It took me a week to redraw Mario together with shading him. This is my first time redrawing artwork with shading. I put in over 50 layers. That was the hardest part of restoring the cover for Super Mario Bros. 3. The original box had a dash between the words "game show". There was a dash on "outswim" too. I double checked these words on Google. "Outswim" is spelled as one word, just like "outrun". We don't use a dash on those two words.

Here is a little update from last weekend. I went to Portland, OR and I scored a lot of complete in box games. I got 9 NES games, two Game Boy Advance games, two Super Nintendo games, and two instruction manuals. The manuals I got were for Super Mario Bros. 3 and Snake's Revenge. I have been looking for a copy of the instruction manual for Snake's Revenge for many years. I finally found one in decent condition and now my copy of Snake's Revenge has the manual. The complete in box games are going to be revealed later in the forums when I get them made. I had a great time. I was surprised to find out that Portland Retro Gaming Expo is going to be in August instead of October this year. I can't wait! I think it's going to be another great event this year. I wish I lived in Portland instead of Sacramento. If you made it this far, I would like to congratulate you. Patience pays off. Now go and get these two covers and case up your loose games. Game on!

Hi, everybody! How are all of you doing? I have a lot of stuff for all of you today! I have two NES covers and two posters. I had the poster for Arch Rivals on hold for over a year. I'm glad I decided to scan the poster and stitch it together before I sold my copy of Arch Rivals. I found the same Milton Bradley Games promo poster in my complete in box copy of Marble Madness. The poster has the round Nintendo Seal in red. Making the first version of the poster was simple. I had no idea a different version of the Milton Bradley Games promo poster existed. Unfortunately, I haven't made the cover for Marble Madness yet. I will have it up soon. The two covers I made are The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle and The Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout. Since I made the Game Boy cover for The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle back in June 2016, I thought I would make the two Bugs Bunny NES covers. I was very stoked when I found a vendor at the Portland Video Game Swap Meet last month selling both Bugs Bunny games for the NES. These covers may look simple, but, they were harder than I expected. I had to take extra care to make sure I recreated the triangles and the gradient used on the front and spine of The Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout as accurately as possible. Sylvester, Wile E. Coyote, Daffy Duck, and Yosemite Sam used in the background on The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle were redrawn into vectors. I found the same pictures of the characters in the instruction manual. I scanned them and traced them into vectors. After editing my vectors in Illustrator, I had to rotate each vector and shrink them down while keeping the portions constrained. You should see how sharp and crisp they are. Bugs Bunny and Honey Bunny on the back of The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle were also redrawn into solid vectors. "Nonstop" and "Blowout" on the back of The Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout were spelled with dashes. I corrected those words by removing the dashes. Those words are not supposed to be spelled with dashes. I could tell you more things I did to restore the covers and posters, but that would take me too long to explain. The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle is the only NES cover I have seen where the oval Seal of Quality is slanted on the front. I think Nintendo did that for comic effect. No matter which cover you use, these games will look very nice on your shelf all cased up. The two posters will look very nice on your wall. You can even stick them on your refrigerator if you want. Well, I better let you go so you can download these covers and posters. Happy gaming!

Hi, guys! I'm back with three more NES covers. These covers are not for a game. Instead, these three covers are for the NES Cleaning Kit. Nintendo just couldn't make one version of the box art, huh? Did anyone ever use this cleaning kit back then? I'm sure some of you may have used it. Of course, we have better ways to clean our NES cartridges today. I found a vendor at the video game swap meet in January 2020 selling the first two versions of the NES Cleaning Kit. When I got home, I bought the third version on eBay. My most favorite of the three is Version 3. I remember seeing this back when I was a kid. I thought it was so cool how the front cover has Mario wiping the screen. Making vectors for all three of these covers was very time consuming. When I made vectors for the NES system, game cartridge, and cleaning cartridge, I had to rotate several lines and put them together until they looked just right. It felt like putting lots of pieces of lumber together and then cutting off lines that are too long. Those vectors are also available in my vector logos folder for anyone who needs them.

Sorry, I have been absent for so long. These took quite a lot of work. I'm very happy to be sharing them now. The last two months have been something with the Corona virus going around. I haven't been affected by the Corona virus, thankfully. My mom and the rest of my family hasn't been affected either. Grocery shopping has been hard to do lately because people here in Sacramento, California have been buying up all the toilet paper, cleaners, disinfectant wipes, water, and lots of food. I have never seen anything like this happen. What blows my mind is the fact that over 12,000 people in Italy have been affected with the Corona virus. In California, a little over 130 people have been affected with the Corona virus. Schools and colleges have been closed, events have been canceled, meetings have been canceled, even bars have been closed. Some restaurants have also closed due to the Corona virus. Making covers and playing video games helps keep me entertained while we wait for the Corona virus to die down. There is hope for next month. Just take precautions like maintaining a social distance of 6 feet, wash your hands often for 20 seconds, sneeze into your arm instead of your hand, and you'll be fine. These are the same precautions I have been doing ever since I was a kid.

Okay, everybody! Head on down below and get the three different cover variations for the NES Cleaning Kit! The black cleaning cartridge does fit in Shadowfox's NES Custom Game Case.

Hi, everybody! I'm back once again with another NES cover. Since I'm a glutton for punishment, I bought The Simpsons: Bart vs. The Space Mutants at the Portland Video Game Swap Meet in January 2020. I decided to buy Bart vs. The Space Mutants because I thought it would be cool to do another Simpsons video game cover. All the manual tracing of the black lines was so tedious. I had to keep taking breaks from it. It took me 18 days to do this cover. Yesterday was my first day working from home. I work for the State of California. An order was put in for all State employees to work from home due to the coronavirus. I had to set up my work computer at home on Monday March 30, 2020. This is my first time working from home. It has been fun and unique. Work has been slow and that gives me a little time to work on video game covers. I don't know when I will be able to return back to my workplace. I may have to work from home all through April. Remember when I said I didn't think I would do another cover like Bart vs. The World because it was so hard? Well, I changed my mind. I like a challenge and Bart vs. The Space Mutants sure as heck was one. I even played the game. This game is very challenging. Level 4 is the hardest. I lost so many lives falling to my death when I was trying to get past the dinosaur. Once I beat the game, I felt so good. Bart vs. The Space Mutants was one of the hardest games I have ever played. Be sure to stay tuned for more covers. See you guys next time!

Hey gamers! What's up? I have another cover for all of you today. It's an arcade classic and the site needed a better, higher quality cover of Galaga: Demons of Death. This cover was hard, but nothing like Bart vs. The Space Mutants. I picked up this game at the video game swap meet in Portland, OR back in January. I bought the 1st version which has the round Nintendo Seal. I found out that Nintendo re-released this game with the oval Seal of Quality when I looked at copies on eBay. When I checked the main site, I found Lumberjack42's cover for the universal game case. When I saw the cover had the oval Seal of Quality, I was very happy. I didn't need to buy the 2nd version on eBay. Using Lumberjack42's cover of Galaga: Demons of Death allowed me to see where the oval Seal of Quality needs to be on the front and back. I resized some pieces of his cover in Photoshop. It took me a few tries to get the artwork lined up with the source on my cover. I noticed that the legal text is also different on the two box variations. Take a look and you'll see what I mean. Why is the game called Galaga: Demons of Death? Why not just Galaga? That's what the arcade game was called. The coronavirus pandemic is still going on. Don't worry, I still haven't been affected. This coming weekend is when BABSCon was supposed to be held. I can't go because it has been cancelled due to COVID-19. I had to cancel my train fare, hotel stay and weekend pass. Next month is Pin-A-Go-Go (aka Golden State Pinball Festival) and that has been cancelled too. So much for cycling to Lodi from Sacramento. I hope California Extreme in July won't be cancelled. Not being able to go to these annual events because of the virus is what depresses me. Don't get too sad, guys. Things will get better someday. Even though we can't go out to restaurants, events, or an arcade, I am still here making more covers while I work from home. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!

Hi, guys! I have another cover in two versions for you today. Remember when I said I would have Marble Madness up soon? Two months later, it's here. I found out this arcade classic has two versions of the box art. I checked eBay and bought a complete in box copy of the 2nd version that has the oval Seal of Quality. The copy of Marble Madness I bought on eBay also included a Marble Madness poster. On the other side of the poster was a promotion for many other games available from Milton Bradley. As a special added bonus, both posters that came with Marble Madness are also here. I had no idea that the Milton Bradley promo poster would take so much work. I took extra care to make sure all the text boxes with the game information text for each game had the same paragraph spacing. I also checked to make sure each paragraph was lined up perfectly. I found a mistake on California Games. "Roller Skating" was originally spelled as one word on the information text. Roller skating is two words; not one. Skateboarding is one word. These covers and posters took lots of time to restore. I'm very excited to be sharing these with everyone. I don't know when I will be able to go back to my workplace. I may have to work from home throughout the whole month of May too. We'll see what happens. Head on down below and download my newest covers and posters. See you guys next time!

Never noticed that Corvette ZR-1 Challenge was only released my Milton Bradley with that title in Europe. The US version was released by Absolute as Race America. Would be cool to get a custom US MB version just as on the poster using the PAL cover. Anyone have a scan?
