Well I guess I had to make a first post sooner or later.

Just picked up one of these for $20 today. If anyone else has one, can you confirm something for me? The plug on it only has 7/9 pins. Wondering if that's by design, or if I just picked up something that's damaged....

OH, and I finally found someone selling a Wavebird receiver, that didn't want an insane price for. Finally replacing my 1 missing receiver. HAPPY. Now to find a good platinum wavebird to give me 4...

SNES and NES controllers only use 5 of their 7 contacts.  Those extra pins are likely reserved for special peripherals.  That is just a normal controller, just an unusual design ;)

I checked a couple of normal PSX controllers and they were both 9/9. Just had me concerned. I'll know in a couple of hours when I finally get home at least

The pickups are the binder and the 4 pocket photo sheets.  I've decided that this is the best Game Gear display solution I can come up with.  GG games come in plastic cases (like Gameboy games), but as my collection has grown to over 50 games, stacking those cases became a burden as it's hard to keep any order or find a specific game.  This way, I can flip through my games to easily find what I want to play.

There's no real casing solution for large GG collections.  While there are some covers here, they account for a very small percentage of total GG games, so even if I cased some of the more popular ones, I'd still need a secondary display method for the rest.

I don't guess Game Gear games would fit in the casette cases like some people are doing with Gameboy games?

I don't see why they wouldn't fit ina cassette case beings as they are smaller than a cassette tape.

I found a pretty good deal on Offer Up.  It was 140 Genesis games for $300, which is about $2.15 a game.  I got them down to 275, which is about $1.96 a game.

This is the original picture -

I knew there were some gems, but it was basically a blind buy and hope for the best.  I sifted through and about 70 of them I don't have, so that's a plus.

Got them home, dumped the bag, and spent an hour digging through them.

Here are some of the highlights -

Hyperstone Heist, Lightening Force and Flintstones were a nice touch, and I've never seen a copy of Space Invaders '91 before.

All in all I'm pretty happy.  I could sell all the ones I already have, at cost, and I'd still come out ahead on this one.   :D

With the final 3 on the way, I now have a complete DSi set. This marks my third complete set of portables, with the Gameboy Micro and Neo Geo Pocket Color being the other two. On to the DSi XL, of which only two remain on my list...

So I've been doing Genesis repro's for a bit and decided to do some SNES games.

Here's wave 1 of SNES repro's I have made for my collection:

I'm sure the sizing of the labels and such could be better, but not bad for being done entirely by hand. I also try to document version number and author(s) of the translation/hacks that I use. Makes it easier to manage and know if something is outdated. :)

Wow.  :o Hopefully someday I'll be able to run across Hyperstone Heist and Lightening Force for $2 a piece  ;D If your interested in trading or selling, let me know - I might be able to help you out with some of your doubles.

While purchased in 2016, I'll count this as my biggest 2017 pickup...

Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

Well, it's missing some key components (like the Wii U for example) and it's pretty dirty, but I won't complain for a free kiosk.  I have a few ideas to convert it into something for my basement, so I'm hoping it can be a fun little project for the winter.
