Some pickups from Gamestop online: I've been looking for good portable shmups, and I've heard a lot of good things about Iridion II. Finally got around to buying one - can't wait until I have some time to really get into it. I've only had time to play it for a few minutes so far and it seems pretty amazing. |

Since I do console repair and mod work, as well as reproductions, I felt I needed something just for me. I really liked how the NES turned out for my other half, so I made one for myself to signify what I love to do. :) Still have two more OEM NES', but this is the one I grew up with. It's model number is also in the upper 4 million range, which is phenomenal considering my other front loader is about 26 million. Not sure what my top loader is. :) Gave it a nice Retrobrite bath earlier with an indoor UV light and about 8 hours of rest. Turned out beautifully. |

I've heard a couple instances where the part started yellowing again after only a few months. I've got a Famicom incoming, that might need the treatment. |

I've never done it, but I also imagine it depends on where you keep it and if it's in contact with UV light to cause the bromine to react again. |

Well, I was in a GameStop on my lunch break. I didn't even plan to get anything. I was just killing some time, and I used it as one last long shot at finding a Wii U kiosk. While I was there, an older couple came in asking if they had any of the NES Minis. I was on the other side of the store just rolling my eyes thinking, get with it people, you can't find them right now. The store employee nicely said that he didn't expect any more for a while. Then he opened a brown box sitting on the counter (he was in the middle of putting stock back up) and he said, oh wait!!! I have several in this box. I think everyone in the store, myself included, was pretty surprised. So the couple and I both walked out with one, leaving the store with one left. They were so new, the employee literally had to enter them into inventory before he could sell them to us. Honestly, I was in no rush to get one. I have very little use for it because I prefer the original hardware. However, I told myself that I would buy one for my collection as long as I could get it for retail price and not wait in line to get it. Edit for pic |
