Megatron:
Is there an advantage to THIS cable over the standard AV cable?  I already have the component cables - does this one give better sound?
TDIRunner:
Oh, I forgot.  I saw the Last Guardian at Target when I was there, but I already ordered it through Amazon to get the 20% discount.  Unfortunately, according to my email, I might not get it until tomorrow.  I thought Amazon was pretty good about getting pre-orders delivered on the release date, but I don't mind waiting an extra day to save 20%.

Technically, it should considering it's shielded/grounded (I don't believe the OEM cable is grounded due to a lack of shielding to ground). In reality, the difference (if any) is probably completely negligible. Right now I'm using my Trinitron's built in speakers, but I'll be moving all of my gaming stuff to another room in the next couple months. At that point, I plan to have my game systems hooked up to a sound system. Then I will most likely test the difference (because if there is one, it will be much easier to hear). Nonetheless, I already have a ton invested in the highest video output, so it seems like a nice investment in getting the highest audio output. Though until I have the opportunity to test the difference, I wouldn't fully recommend it to anyone else. For the sake of knowing, I may hook it up to the living room's sound system and see if I can detect a difference. I'll post here if/when I do.

This reminds me of ol' Monster Cable. Lots of extra plastic and some gold plating, zero detectable difference. I remember someone doing a bunch of blind tests with a group of so-called audiophiles and it proving such.

I don't understand how any RCA cable couldn't be grounded. It won't work if there isn't signal & ground :-\
TDIRunner:
I'm pretty sure the benefit of that cable is going to be the removal of the composite or s-video cable plug that is no longer needed due to having the component cable.
