It looks like (as a huge Zelda fan), I'll have to get some of the Zelda Amiibos (especially wolf link), but it doesn't sound like I have to have a shelf full to get the most out of the Wii U once I get it.

Yeah, if you're looking for the bare minimum 'here are amiibos that add features I couldn't otherwise have' your list is only probably 6-7 for everything (even less depending what games you want).

Also if you're ever interested this website has a great chart to tell you which amiibos give you what in which game.

yeah amiibos are pretty rad i know theres a way to make "fake amiibos" with NFC chips hell there are even nfc chips inside cards you can print on and people have made their own VERY NICE looking amiibos this is something i havent done myself but maybe in the future? i have all the amiibos i want tho lol

There's a company who makes what amounts to a flash cart for amiibos. I've heard mixed reviews, but seems cool enough for someone who doesn't really have interest in the toys themselves, but does in the perks they offer in-game.

Pretty much describes me perfectly.

I own 3 Amiibo, but all of them came with games that I bought.

As someone who owns most of them, yeah they are kinda useless.

It kinda pays off to get 1 or 2 of your favorite looking characters as many games have unlockable costumes and stuff, but overall, minus a few things, there is not much content locked off for them.
