Because so far, every time the screen gets pulled out of the console, the TV turns off. And if not, will there be games that require off TV play? Because that will be a major turn off for people.

Everything I've read and heard has said that the Switch will be a "single screen experience."

Right, but that contradicts with the idea of a touch screen interface. Unless this thing is compatible with Wii Motes as well (Please no, let's move on from that) the touch screen features will be restricted for those who don't want to play on the pad. That could mean certain things like quick selection of menu items or something as extreme as styles of play and/or entire games being restricted to game pad only.

My guess is that the touch screen isn't for gaming functions. But who knows? As much as they showed us in the preview, they still left us with a lot of unknowns. We will have to wait until 2017 for that.

^ agree with this, but what I really think is that it won't have a touch screen
