We'll buy day one, but we have preteens that will demand it. I am excited, but I want to see what this does to the handheld market. Are they going to slow development on 3DS and switch to a more smartphone style handheld to use the NS carts? If not, then they're not really doing themselves any favors making this a portable system. They're still going to have to develop games twice.

Why would they develop games twice?

Didn't understand that part either.

From.what I see is the same game for both. Different as they are doing now with some Wii U and 3DS, in that case they are developing two games.

I think that the way they are taking is better economically for us

Yes, I mean that if they don't make a smaller handheld with a lower price point, they're still going to end up developing for both 3DS and the NS. It'd be a smarter move to create a smaller handheld that handles the games like the NS rather than continuing to develop for the 3DS.

I don't care what Nintendo is saying right now.  The Switch is a replacement for both the Wii U and 3DS.  Within  a year or two of the release of the Switch, it will be Nintendo's only console.  They will only have to develop games for ONE system.

Exactly, if they have a console and a handheld all in one they are not going to make another handheld apart

I think they're going to have to make a slim or mini or lite version of the screen. Speaking completely as a parent and not a gamer, there's no way in hell I'm going to let my kids walk around with a $300 (random number) console. I'm ok with a $150... but if it's our family Nintendo console, that's just not going to fly.

Original release price for the 3DS was $249.  I wouldn't want my kids walking around with a $300 console either, but that doesn't mean this won't be Nintendo's portable console.  Think about the number of 5 year olds walking around with $700 cell phones.

Even if they make a "slim" or "lite" version, they would still only have to make ONE version of each game.  The idea of combining both home and portable consoles into one unit was (or at least should have been) Nintendo's primary goal in this new console.  It will allow them to put all of their focus on ONE thing.

I think I may have miscommunicated somewhere. I was saying that yes, moving to one version of each game by not developing for the 3DS. But my hope is that they'll make an actual pocket portable version with a lower price point. But something that can take the exact same game.

That's what I try to explain, maybe they will sell the hole thing for 300 for example, but just the handheld part for 150.

So, you'll buy the complete bundle and for your kids just the handheld part, they can destroy the one you buy for them, but you'll have the one on the bundle safe in home for you

or probably they will sell the portable part apart from the unit, one will be a complete set and you can buy also separate units

That's interesting.  I hadn't thought about that.

In other words, in theory, the docking station could be optional.  Or have one docking station and 2, 3, or 4 controller units.

exactly

I don't think there was any news on the specs, but I'm wondering if the base also has some graphic processor, to make it more powerfull when the TV (large display with more details) is used.

AWWW SHIIIIIITT! The hype is real.

Whats with the 6 / 7 inch screen and sitting 3 feet away?  Is that suppose to be a thing?

Don't understand your question.

why it's suppose to be a thing?

You know, because I can already read the text on a VITA when its right in front of my face... lol

Yes.. This is what I'm getting at. Sorry at my poor thought construction.

While everyone on the web was bitching, moaning, speculating, being angry, and so on, I decided to show some love. I dig it based on what we've seen.

But when are you going to turn the base station/dock into a SNES look-a-like?  ???

I think Nivida is making the GFX hardware for it. It should be on pa

I'm hopeful, and honestly speaking I'll buy one eventually no matter what, because you know a good Mario and Zelda game will be on it.

I doubt they will flood the market with home versions and portable versions, MAYBE after a couple years a '2DS' type budget model will be made.

As some people pointed out it does not seem the most portable, due to the size. I doubt it will fit in a pocket, and the lack of a clamshell design kinda sucks for durability.

I realy hope it's not stuck between a Portable and a Home System, as in too bulky and inconvenient to use as a portable and too under powered for a home system. I'm still hopeful though.

It's definitely a killer of the Wii U, but I can see the 3DS being kept along as a budget alternative.

With all these 3rd Party Support we could get games like Call Of Duty, Fallout, Dark Souls. As well as Anime Fighting Games such as the One Piece and Naruto fighting games, with Konami I'm guessing PES and a port of MGSV and MGSV: Survival. now imagine if the 3rd Party Support was good and they finally let say Rockstar partner with them and bring out Red Dead Redemption 2 for it, Imagine taking that on the go.
But what I'm concerned about will it have an Achievement System/Trophy System like all the other consoles to keep that interest going within games (cuz hell we know we all love getting Achivements)

I'm still hoping for a sequel to Lego City Undercover.

Hmmm.  No Rockstar.  There was speculation that they might be bringing something the this.  Also Nintendo has not seen this 3rd party support in like 20 year!!!!

No bitching and moaning here. I am going to get AT LEAST one of them. Let me know if you decide to make 2 ;)

Actually, Rockstar is owned by Take-Two, which is listed, so there is still a chance we could see RDR 2 and possibly a GTA game.

This is a quick mockup of what I  hope Nintendo does to support their virtual console library. Limited edition Joy-Con controllers with original button layouts  ;D

(yes, i know Goldeneye stands no chance of being released on VC but it does have a widescreen option so it'e a good example)

They could do this with virtually any console they want and I would buy them all
