From.what I see is the same game for both. Different as they are doing now with some Wii U and 3DS, in that case they are developing two games. The Switch is a replacement for both the Wii U and 3DS. Within a year or two of the release of the Switch, it will be Nintendo's only console. Speaking completely as a parent and not a gamer, there's no way in hell I'm going to let my kids walk around with a $300 (random number) console. I'm ok with a $150... but if it's our family Nintendo console, that's just not going to fly. --- End quote --- Original release price for the 3DS was $249. I wouldn't want my kids walking around with a $300 console either, but that doesn't mean this won't be Nintendo's portable console. Think about the number of 5 year olds walking around with $700 cell phones. Even if they make a "slim" or "lite" version, they would still only have to make ONE version of each game. The idea of combining both home and portable consoles into one unit was (or at least should have been) Nintendo's primary goal in this new console. It will allow them to put all of their focus on ONE thing. --- End quote --- I think I may have miscommunicated somewhere. I was saying that yes, moving to one version of each game by not developing for the 3DS. But my hope is that they'll make an actual pocket portable version with a lower price point. But something that can take the exact same game. --- End quote --- That's what I try to explain, maybe they will sell the hole thing for 300 for example, but just the handheld part for 150. So, you'll buy the complete bundle and for your kids just the handheld part, they can destroy the one you buy for them, but you'll have the one on the bundle safe in home for you |
