The Splatoon and Mario Kart shown were NOT the Wii U ones.  Both had different stuff that is not found in the Wii U games... so maybe new ones (MK9, Splatoon 2)?

I think it looks really cool and has a ton of potential if it's pulled off correctly.

2 things, It's powered by Nvidia: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2016/10/20/nintendo-switch/

and here is a list of partners:

Yeah, let's not forget the partners. Without good games, this is another flop.
I've been dreaming of all PS4/XBOX One Square Enix exclusive on NX. As they are in the partner list, maybe we'll have some FF games... finally.

From what I understand, Nintendo is still saying that this will NOT replace the Wii U or 3DS.  But they said the same thing about the Game Boy when the DS came out.  So I think we all know that this is the only thing in Nintendo's future, and I have no problem with that.

My only question is, when will the Wii U be marked down to $19.99 on clearance?   :P
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

Just out of curiosity, are there any day 1 buyers here?

For me, it's still unknown.  The price will be a big factor in that.  I've never purchased a console on day 1 before, so I think it's unlikely I will this time either, but you never know.  However, I might actually be a year 1 buyer which will be the first time in a very long time that I've bought a console within its first year of release.

We'll buy day one, but we have preteens that will demand it. I am excited, but I want to see what this does to the handheld market. Are they going to slow development on 3DS and switch to a more smartphone style handheld to use the NS carts? If not, then they're not really doing themselves any favors making this a portable system. They're still going to have to develop games twice.

Didn't understand that part either.

From.what I see is the same game for both. Different as they are doing now with some Wii U and 3DS, in that case they are developing two games.

I think that the way they are taking is better economically for us

Yes, I mean that if they don't make a smaller handheld with a lower price point, they're still going to end up developing for both 3DS and the NS. It'd be a smarter move to create a smaller handheld that handles the games like the NS rather than continuing to develop for the 3DS.

I think they are going to stop in some point both systems (Wii U and 3ds/2ds)

I hate to say it, but I'm not impressed... At all. Those controllers look really stupid sliding them on an off. I wonder how much they wil make from people having to replace their controllers they lost.
What are you looking at? You think baby's don't like video games? THEN YOU DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT BABIES!!

I could see families EATING this up! "It's my turn, no it's my turn ... KIDS, share!" Outside of 2 player I could see this as being tough to accomplish. I've watched plenty of videos with my girlfriend on my 5" phone or 7" tablet screen. Even if you have to share I've done plenty of gaming on the old 2.5" Gameboy screen.

If he price is right, I could see parents purchasing one console and deciding down the road to purchase another one for each member of the family. That AND they have the option to incrementally upgrade with more systems as time progresses as it was built to share.

---------------------------------------

One thing virtually no one is talking about is the longevity and wear this handheld potentially fixes. The most common problem I see on old handhelds it broken or worn out buttons. Controller joysticks eventually have deadzones and just become worn out from overuse. Since the controllers are detachable we could simply replace the worn out pieces.

Also, limited edition controller pieces (ie gray w/ maroon GB buttons, SNES theme, NES theme, GCN theme etc.). I will buy controllers FOR-EH-VER!!Can you imagine getting a 'GCN Themed' controller that has the actual correct button shapes to play virtual console games on?

It is a day one purchase for me (most consoles are though)!
