Dang. That's more than just a deal. |

That's why you almost never see any consoles sold for more than $20 off (sometimes at Target and Wal-Mart). Even when that rarely happens, it's usually to get people in the store to hopefully buy some software with it. --- End quote --- Yeah, that's definitely what they're shooting for. Hell, that's what they're ALWAYS hoping for, as a console sale alone is essentially a loss. I remember when a local TrU had a stock of Wii consoles back when they were hard as hell to find. Bought one for my brother-in-law and, well, my other brother-in-law lol! They tried to tell me that I MUST buy some accessories and games in order two buy them both. Any of your who know me even remotely know that I won't play that game of bullshit, and definitely didn't that day. Got them without buying another damned thing, and even told them to shove the bag of Gummy Bears that I had grabbed up their asses. Some clearance goodies. Crystal red 2DS systems are trade fodder. They've been sitting at my local target at least as long as we've lived at this new house. Figured it was time to just grab them, seeing as the price keeps going up, which seems odd seeing as they're still available at retail in some locations. |

Bought this for $30 at Retro World Expo this weekend: It's a homemade cartridge using the ROM from Nintendo's release of "Donkey Kong Original Edition", which added the 4th level missing from the original NES release. Nintendo released the updated version a few years ago for the 3DS e-shop in Europe. I'm a huge Donkey Kong fan, and it's nice to finally have a close to arcade perfect version to play on an NES. I forgot his name, but the creator did a good job with the label. It's nice and glossy, and has the classic Donkey Kong arcade artwork. He also made cartridges with the original black label, but I like this better (and I already have an original cart). I went to the Expo expecting to spend a lot of $$$, but this is all I bought. I'm mostly a Sega collector, and it was nearly all Nintendo there. I even heard a few dealers saying that Sega doesn't sell. I know Sega is as hot as the rest of the market because I buy and sell a lot, but it seems to be mostly confined to online (although some of the retro stores in my area feature Sega quite prominently). Of course, most of the dealers that did have Sega stuff just had common sports games and other weak titles, so it's kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy if there's no premium games available. I was looking for high end shmups, and there just weren't any, though there was some decent Saturn stuff there. |

Oh, you were there too? I actually got a lot of Sega from there. 1 Saturn game and controller, 4 Genesis games and a mouse, a Master system game and a Robotnick Figure. Day 1 I spent $140 and traded $150 worth of stuff to get 14 games, 4 controllers, 2 display items, 2 figures and a few other things at Retro World Expo, I'm going back tomorrow and then I'll post the haul. (I somehow posted this in the wrong thread, I was tired.) Day 2 I spent around $100 and got 8 games, 2 controllers and a display standee. I'll post pics and lists tomorrow. |

Glad to hear you got some decent stuff. Like I said, I was hoping to find some of the rarer Genesis shmups and I just didn't see any (I was there from 4-7 on Saturday). I even brought along a Golden Axe Warrior for SMS to trade in case I found something out of my price range. I didn't see a single MUSHA, Elemental Master, Raiden Trad, Lightening Force, Steel Empire, Grind Stormer, Fire Shark or Truxton. I was also looking for CIB Strider and World of Illusion. I saw a World of Illusion but the manual was pretty beat. I did see a copy of Buster Douglas Boxing for SMS. It's completely out of my price range, but it was nice to actually see one in person. It was priced $500 which is a little high. |
