I did not see a thread for people to get feedback on "in progress" covers, sorry if I posted in the wrong place. I've made a few covers in the past using scans online but this is the first one I've made from scratch. I'd like some feedback on my process before cleaning it up, adding the spine, etc. How can I improve? Did I do something wrong? Looking for all criticisms, good or bad. Thanks! :)

Alright, here's what I did in Photoshop:
1-Scan at 1200x1200
2-Noise>Median
3-Resize to template size
4-Noise>Despeckle
5-Blur>Surface Blur
6-Sharpen>Unsharp Mask

Checking at my bad computer screen the quality is otherwise good but oh boy do you need scratch and dent removing...
I'll take better look at home at better screen.

Yeah, my box wasn't in that good of a condition(the back especially). There's lots of work ahead, that's why I want to be sure that my process is ok and that my covers could get accepted if I cleaned up the damage... I'm especially wondering if the image is too blurry because I've used filters to get rid of the moire effect.

EDIT: I think I like this one better. Looks cleaner:

2nd one is too blurred/softened.  Text on the back becomes difficult to read.  I never use that many filters on my images.  Was your original scan very moired?

Use the clone stamp tool to make all your repairs on the raw image BEFORE any blurring/filtering.

Yes. It was especially hard removing it on the grey part of Shredder's helmet. Unlike some people that have put up tutorials on the forum, I have no "revove moire" check box when I scan something. Only one that reads "reduce noise". What do you usually use when making a cover?

Here are the raw scans if anybody wants to check them

EDIT: What about this one? Writing is less blurry, colors are sharper.

I can personally still see a lot of damage on the box. like other have said, that's stamp tool is awesome.

Segamer has some awesome tutorials, unless that's the ones you actually watched, I'd say watch them.

I decided to buy a better scanner with moire removing option(a Canon CanoScan LiDE 120), some people on the forum seemed to be happy with it. Good/bad choice?

I use an Epsom flatbed scanner. But yes, that should be a good one.
