Playing PS1 Imports on a PS2

Does anyone have experience playing PS1 imports on a PS2? Here's my setup:

PS2 Slim 70012 w/ Swap Switch installed.
PS1 GameShark Lite.
Raiden Project JAP.

I have the Swap Switch mod installed so I can boot games with the lid open with no problems. I boot into the GameShark Lite and select the option to boot the game with no codes. Switch out the GS for Raiden Project and the disc spins but it never loads (Just black screen). I can boot into NTSC games from the GameShark with no problems.  Am I doing something wrong?  I'd like to avoid the swapping out of a spinning disc if possible.

PS2 swapping is a bit strange.

It reads the size of the first disk inserted - in this case the game shark.  If the disk you swap in has a larger file table than the boot disc, it won't work. (Through the lid)

Best software to use for swapping is breaker pro.  It's another cheat system like game shark, but it was designed for swapping, and has a max size file table - so will boot anything.

Although you say you can boot US ps1 games with this method with no problems?

Edit - I'm a dick - is it a ps1 or ps2 game shark?  I assume ps1 - then not sure the above actually counts.  Breaker pro comes with disks for ps1 and ps2 swapping, so it might still be true.......

If you can download the iso of breaker pro ps1 disc, you could try the double swap.  Game shark -> breaker pro -> raiden

Thanks Sheep.

I was reading about Breaker Pro and that might work for me. Sounds like it's just 1 PS1 disc that has a high TOC and will work on PS1 and PS2 assuming you have some kind of mod for opening the lid.  Just got to find one for a decent price....

The GameShark Lite is a PS1 disc.  I was able to boot to it, then boot to NTSC Ape Escape PS1 just fine.

Will the GameShark boot burned games?  If so, that last method might work.

It's a very long time since I used a PS2 with a flip top, but I think think the ps1 game shark will boot burned discs.  The ps2 game shark did.

Cool, I might try that out then.  Thanks again man!
