Hey all,

I uploaded a few PS1 covers last week and I went to check under the PS1 section and they're not there. Is there an approval period for all uploads? Is the "upload a cover" thing broken?

Thanks,

Approval takes time, and only perfect covers will end on the site.  Anything not cleaned/sized correctly/etc will be deleted without comment.  Overal better to begin by showcasing on the forums before uploading to the site.

All the covers that meet site standards have been posted. Your cover, Spyro, was generally pretty good. However, the site has high standards. So, each cover posted to the site has to be perfect. Your cover looked like it had sections or blocks that were stretched to fill gaps. The cover also needed additional cleaning as there were white spots dotted around the cover. I'm not picking on your work. I'm just explaining what the cover project looks for. I picked out a small section of your cover to show you some examples:

Thanks, it was my first crack at GIMP and I was very surprised nobody had made custom DVD covers for those games.

Totally understandable that it needs to be perfect. I wasn't completely satisfied myself, but I figured it was at least a starting point for others to use.

Appreciate the feedback  ;)

Just curious though, I noticed you picked Year of the Dragon for the quality. What about Ripto's Rage I submitted? I can't see much wrong about it.

We get hundreds of cover submission monthly.  I don't usually go over the issues with every cover. Ripto's rage is skewed. Taking an image and stretching it is a big no no. Plus, there's issues with the spine and front cover. There's an odd gray line that separates them; in addition to a drop shadow around the front cover. The scans are somewhat blurry.

Part of being a cover artist is to figure out how to design these covers without skewing the artwork and make them look authentic. It's tricky because almost all Playstation covers where designed for a cd case, not a DVD case.

Thanks again for the reply, I know you don't have time to reply to a lot of basic questions and submissions like this.

I'm not a PS/GIMP expert, but the ones I submitted work for me. Hopefully someone can make them legit and upload them. I'm surprised it hasn't already been done...

If your covers are not up to site standards, you can still share them on the boards.  This would be a good place for PS1 DVD covers.

Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

They've been attempted before. The cover just didn't meet site standards. I did a quick search and found one of them. The other was posted before but the link was dead.

If I may, I submitted a cleaned up cover of NES baseball to replace the horrible one that's currently available.  (check it out, it's really bad) Any particular reason it was not added?
