I don't think there was anything new that excited me as most news leaked earlier in the week.

I was already excited about Dead Rising 4, ReCore and Cuphead. ScaleBound looks ok. I'm more than happy to buy the new hardware when it comes out.

8 cores and 6 TeraFLOPS...I'm pretty excited about that.  COuld this suck?  Absolutely.
But being an Xbox fanboy, I will likely trade in my XB for a XB slim, and then flat out buy the Monster Scorpio that is promised whenever that comes out.  Fingers crossed this isn't just another 32x...

I like what they did with the Xbox Slim.  It's not anything over the top, but every change they made was in the right direction and made sense.  I think they were great things to have in a slim console.  While I'm curious to hear what happens with Scorpio, I'm disappointed there wasn't any PS4.5 announcement since that console seems targeted at the VR people (me).

My guess is that Sony didn't want the story to be system vs system, so to one up Xbox they focused on games, which Xbox was sorely lacking in their show.  The amount of 3rd party exclusives for Sony is impressive.  I'm pretty pissed some of them aren't multiplats.  Also, I'm wondering if the Neo isn't as much of a beast as Scorpio, so they didn't want the focus to be their lack of hardware power.

I was actually surprised to see how much smaller the Xbox One S got while moving the power supply to the inside.  It's usually the opposite of that when consoles slim down.

With that said, it's still not enough to me me lean towards the Xbox.  I'm still ready to buy a PS4 as my next console.  I'm just trying to figure out if I will wait for the PS4.5 or buy the inevitably cheaper base PS4.  Target actually has a sale on PS4 models, but it's only applies to the $400 model making it $350.  I want the $350 model to come down to at least $300 before I pull the trigger.  I'm looking forward to the VR set, but I can assure you that I will be a late adopter to actually buying it.

The Slim isn't the power beast.  The Xbox Scorpio is.  It was briefly announced at the end of the conference.  The slim is just a little more powerful.  The Scorpio will have more details soon and will likely be released at the end of 2017.  But basically it's more akin to a decent gaming PC with its specs.

I realize that. I only even brought up the slim because they made it smaller while putting the power supply on the inside which almost never happens.  Most manufacturers move the power supply to the outside (brick) when they slim their consoles down.

However, the specs of the Scorpio still won't switch me over from Sony to Microsoft.  I could see getting an XBox One long, long down the road, but if I ever do, it will be long after I've purchased my PS4 and Wii U (neither of which I own at the moment).

Horizon Zero Dawn looks cool, though I have to say I'm more interested by the environment. The 'Why are there robot dinosaurs and what are you killing them for and doesn't electricity and rain/water not mix?' question kinda takes me out a bit. Gameplay looks cool, but I like exploitation over combat. I love abandoned places, and I want to search all though that city.

I like what I've seen of Zelda, kinda looks more akin to the NES open world, like SM3DL was closer to the 2D games.

Yay, more amiibo. I guess.

Still looking over the other stuff.

Now I know when I need to get my PS4 by.

The good news is that might be enough time to work in a price drop for the PS4, and it's also past my birthday.......... so hint, hint to anyone who wants to get me a birthday present.  ;)
