Why. Just Why.

Evey-time I buy a boxed thing on eBay I always contact the seller to make sure they ship it properly.

What listing was it, I'm curious of the before pics. What is the sellers response to this and how much did you pay?
I paid close to $90CAD shipped, which is an okay deal if it was complete. You can clearly see the box in pictures of the listing(granted it was only seen in the last pic but it WAS there). It had its flaws but it looked like a nice & sturdy looking box. I told her I paid for a CIB NES and asked her why in the hell did she destroy the the poor thing... Here's her answer: "I just added it to the box in case you might want to see the original box it came in, more for the sake of novelty than any added value. I, in good faith, feel I represented the items of the auction truly."  ::)

Before:

After:

I once recieved broken or bootleg games but in 10 years on Ebay this is the first time something like that happened to me.

I was just looking at boxed Nintendos, and I would have be livid if this happened to me.

Well, I finally had my first nightmare experience with Ebay. I recieved a package today which was supposed to be a nice in box NES(the shipping box was obliviously too small). This is what I saw when I opened it... She cut/ripped the box and shoved it to the bottom as if to make some extra packaging. Good god.

I don't care how much it would cost me to ship back. That shit would be going back.

To those interested, I messaged the seller and requested to return it or AT LEAST get a partial refund. Hadn't heard from her in 4+ days so I messaged her back asking why she was avoiding me of which she replied that she was out of town and busy... If this goes much longer I'll just go through Ebay to get my money back and leave her negative feedback. Fingers crossed  :-\

Just open a case up with ebay.  It will force her to do something about it and it will all be tracked by ebay.  I've opened a couple of cases in the past where sellers were bad about communicating and they always got resolved after opening the case.

Good luck getting your money back.  That box makes me sad.  :'(

With the way that ebay/paypal works, there's no luck involved.

Buyer makes claim
Seller defends claim
ebay doesn't give a flying fuck about sellers, buyer gets money back

I'm not saying that he doesn't deserve his money back, but just that there's nearly zero reason to worry about buying most anything on ebay anymore.  They'll side with the buyer 99% of the time.

Oh, I'm aware.  ;)

I meant "good luck" in that I hope if goes smoothly.  It's still a pain in the ass to go through a returns process, even if the seller is truly 100% in the wrong.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

I will add one thing to this.  You are not 100% guaranteed to get your money back.  A friend of mine (who is a member here, but not active anymore) bought a Little Samson through eBay for market value.  It turned out to be fake which he proved by providing pictures of the fake board.  eBay denied his claim to a refund because he "altered the item"  by opening it.  He continued to fight it since the eBay employee who denied the claim clearly knows nothing of video games to make such a clueless statement, but as far as I know, he was out something like $600.  This happened in February of this year.

Here is a screenshot of the conversation.

I would have kept fighting that shit, anyone that rips me off for that much money will be getting something negative somehow.

Counterfeit claim should go thru even if game was opened.
And if he paid with PayPal he can make a claim there as well as Ebay is separate from PayPal nowadays.

Last I checked, you can't make a paypal claim if the transaction was on eBay.

eBay and PayPal are about as separate as the Hensel twins (look it up).

I had trouble with ebay purchase and there was some hick-up with ebay refunding so I canceled the ebay claim and raised new one on PayPal and got immead refund.
Maybe it's some EU law that forces them better than US law?
Hence I always buy thru UK ebay as the claims then take EU route even if the stuff comes from US or anywhere outside EU.
