This is the first I heard of this! I've owned all of the NES and SNES Marios since release and I just found this out on YouTube this morning. I had no idea that you could use two buttons, one for shooting/throwing and another for running! I knew you could change the button configuration, but I never thought to use both at the same time. I figured it was one or the other. I'm pretty sure Nintendo didn't intend this either, they just wanted to give you the option of B and A like NES, or Y and B as Super Mario World. Now I have to try the Wii U games to see if they allow this as well!

LOL!

I've been chasing fireballs for 2 decades now. It's great fun. Can also do so in SMW.

I didn't think SMW had two run buttons. Thought it was two spin jump buttons?

Nope. X & Y are both run/shoot/etc.
