Wasn't sure where to post this, but has anyone ever seen this kind of case for the Game Gear before? http://r.ebay.com/KwZSRf

It's supposedly a clamshell case from Blockbuster back in the day. Here's a pic if the auction ends/gets taken down.

If nothing else, maybe it's food for thought for Shadowfox as he works on his Game Gear case
*Also I vote for a case shaped closer to the original dimensions of Game Gear boxes. That way when the Shadowfox GG cases are next to my original boxed games, they wont look out of place  ;D

Now that we have a finalized case, I hope we can figure out the dimensions and start working on cover designs.  I think that will be the bottleneck here as I'm only seeing 63 covers added to the Game Gear section over the last 8 years!  I only have about 8-10 boxes myself as I only collect carts and manuals, so I can only help so much.  Does anyone out there know of a good resource for materials to start working on these liner designs?

I fully intend on contributing to this project. I've been planning to make the actual template but I'll wait until I have the cases in hand before starting the project.

I can work on the 2 EU style templates.  (Black, and grey grid)

We've got a lot of scans in the boards for the US releases, which I should be able to retool to work in an EU style.

As a side, I already have a template for the US striped style that I worked on a while ago to make replica boxes.  Should be convertible once I know exact dimensions.  Happy to supply it to Segamer to use as a base if he wants it.

Because of the lack of Game Gear covers here I opted to make my own. I wasn't satisfied with any of the purple options (and I needed covers for a bunch of games which weren't available), so I decided to make my own. It's not a perfect match to the original purple, but I had to tweak it because some of the covers came out too pink or too dull, and my printer at the time wasn't the best, so I saturated the purple and kept it for all of my covers.

Here's an album of the couple of handfuls of covers I did: http://imgur.com/a/trOBs.

Looking through them, they need some updating. I might even change the purple, though they look good on my shelf. I had to search around for the original scans, and didn't really bother cleaning them up. Mind you, this was when I was barely learning Photoshop, so I had to learn all of it on my own.  ::)
Some of the scans don't even match regions, and there are some I just couldn't find. I even tried to keep some of the black Game Gear covers, but now I think I'll just make them all the purple style so they match better on my shelf.
