How do you choose what game to play?

Larfleeze:

I'm curious how some of the more hardcore collectors choose what game to play. My collection just passed 900 games and its near impossible to decide what to play.
I have a spreadsheet of all my games and use a random number generator to pick 5 games and then pick from those 5, its so much easier to pick from 5 than 900 and I get a variety of games that I probably wouldn't play if I didn't choose semi randomly.
How do you guys choose?

segamer:

I choose games based on whatever mood I'm in. Einhander?

I guess your right; plus, the question has something to do with gaming. If it were Einhander, the question would have been, "How do you decide what to eat everyday?"

*"how do you eat?" Is more like it :P

For me and my pithy 30-40 minutes of game time a week, my picks are based on exactly how much time I'll be able to spend playing, how exhausted I am (I.e. Should I play SMW for the millionth time, since it's all muscle memory, or should I play something that requires an iota of thought), and where I'll be able to play (portables or home consoles).  Though sometimes I look at my games, get totally overwhelmed, and just say "screw it, I'm watching Netflix."
