SCART to HDMI Upscaler - Worth the time to invest in?

Hmm, I see it's sold out on Amazon. I found the same one elsewhere and I'm very tempted to nab it.

What do you guys own as regarding to scart, and what would be good to buy. Am I better off to buy an SCART to HDMI Upscaler, or find a way to mod the console to accept HDMI (are there tutorials out there)?

One thing worth noting is that component =/= RGB.
That said, here are the options I would choose:
NES - HDMI mod is currently available http://www.game-tech.us/mods/original-nes/
N64 - HDMI mod is currently available http://ultrahdmi.retroactive.be
PS2 - if possible, just use component video. It's native, just need cables. I wouldn't bother with HDMI. If you really want HDMI PS2, buy a full BC PS3 and be done with it
XBOX - same as PS2 (component)
SNES/Genesis - native RGB output via SCART, then to upscaler.
The NES and N64 mods are not plug-n-play. If you're not up to the task, then best have someone do it for ya.
Also, if you're gonna go the SCART route, make sure it's RGB, and not composite SCART, and definitely don't buy $5 cables.

I don't think I can spend the $ for a framemeister. Too damn expensive for a little bit nicer picture.

There is a new "hobby" option to the Framemeister that will be available soon. It is called is OSSC and you can read more about it at the link below. It introduces almost zero lag and has a fake scanline setting for 240p. I'm on the wait list for one. Once I get mine, I will try to post some pictures and maybe even get some video for others here to see. It is cheaper than the framemeister and looks to offer similar results. It only outputs 480p and a version of 720p that is not compatible with many TVs, but since most TVs do a good job of handling 480p, this is not a big problem for must people.
