Good morning guys.  I for one have been hit with the dilemma of upgrading my (smaller) TV to a 65inch TV.  As games "were" view-able" on the 40inch, the quality of RCA is completely unacceptable now on the TV I wish to hookup to.  I have SNES/N64 S-Video composite cables, but they don't help since I have no S-Vido inputs on the Television.  I can buy an up-converter from S-Video to Component (RGB), but the more I think about that, S-Video is already "not that great".  The more I read into it, and I know how a few of you have protested love for SCART cables, I am ready to make the jump.

However, I need some guidance.  There is no "what to buy", and I figured instead of blowing a crapload of dough on things I don't need, I'll ask around and build up from there.

**Is this not worth the hassle, as I need to mod my systems for better RGB?  I am ready for my birth by fire, but just need a couple pointers.

Systems I would love to hookup:
NES : http://tiny.cc/rpcdby
SNES/N64 : http://tiny.cc/frcdby
PS2 : http://tiny.cc/2rcdby
Xbox : http://tiny.cc/xscdby
Genesis : http://tiny.cc/27cdby

so with that, I would need atleast a 5 way switcher
ebay: http://tiny.cc/27cdby

What do you guys own as regarding to scart, and what would be good to buy.  Am I better off to buy an SCART to HDMI Upscaler, or find a way to mod the console to accept HDMI (are there tutorials out there)?

Thanks in advance  ;D

I use a scart to HDMI converter. I think it works well. Scart cables are like $15 for each system and the converter is about $40.

This video convinced me to go down that road: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RS55pmLIEjA

Have you experienced any input delay? I've heard when converting to HDMI it will add input delay

I haven't experienced any input delays. However, I heard some TVs have this issue with HDMI and input delays regardless; so it probably depends on your TV.

If you can afford and xrgb mini,  they are totally worth it.  The Genesis looks fantastic on it.

RetroRGB has some good recommendations on upscalers.

Hmm, I see it's sold out on Amazon. I found the same one elsewhere and I'm very tempted to nab it.

One thing worth noting is that component =/= RGB.

That said, here are the options I would choose:

NES - HDMI mod is currently available http://www.game-tech.us/mods/original-nes/
N64 - HDMI mod is currently available http://ultrahdmi.retroactive.be
PS2 - if possible, just use component video. It's native, just need cables. I wouldn't bother with HDMI. If you really want HDMI PS2, buy a full BC PS3 and be done with it
XBOX - same as PS2 (component)
SNES/Genesis - native RGB output via SCART, then to upscaler.

The NES and N64 mods are not plug-n-play. If you're not up to the task, then best have someone do it for ya.

Also, if you're gonna go the SCART route, make sure it's RGB, and not composite SCART, and definitely don't buy $5 cables.

I don't think I can spend the $ for a framemeister. Too damn expensive for a little bit nicer picture.

There is a new "hobby" option to the Framemeister that will be available soon. It is called is OSSC and you can read more about it at the link below. It introduces almost zero lag and has a fake scanline setting for 240p. I'm on the wait list for one. Once I get mine, I will try to post some pictures and maybe even get some video for others here to see. It is cheaper than the framemeister and looks to offer similar results. It only outputs 480p and a version of 720p that is not compatible with many TVs, but since most TVs do a good job of handling 480p, this is not a big problem for must people.

Resident Evil Outbreak File 1 and 2, they are still online with the "biohazard" version of the game.  However.... Network Adapter doesnt read on the PS3
