This is an important thing to think about whether you like Pat or not.  I know it is something I have been thinking about a lot lately!  I am trying to decide what in my collection I wan to keep and what do I still want? If anything?

True True, I might trim the fat on my collection at some point

not one for going by a trend, just get what i can at a reasonable price.
...
yeah, need to curtail what i have, it's a little excessive.
give it away, saves on cost of dealing with online bs.
worth it, and already got moneys worth.
question of a good local home for it...
won't get any new tech, don't have the cash.
plus, i think my age is creeping up, my senses are more alive than ever, like a tiger cornered, about to self-destruct...:(
[edit]
keys.

If I was on my way out, I would give my collection away to trusted younger collectors to a good home :) best to pass on a legacy

I plan on mine going to my son and so on until it literally falls apart.  I think for me it was an important part of my childhood that I enjoy sharing with my son.  I do hate how hard it is to get the games that I want.  I am not in it for "collecting" or the "money".  I am into it for fun, plain and simple.

^^^ pretty much this.

If he wants to keep them and pass them on, great. If he wants to sell them to find a different interest/hobby/pursuit/etc., great.  Either way, they're his.

that's a good point, although my mind wasn't that far ahead in thought.
just as long as they get used/played on (or constructive other) it was well worth it.
...
a good chunk of my crap was for free, and in the world of pay-up, got off lucky, and then some.
(it's one thing to get an item for free, but to use it over and over again is priceless.)
...
fingers crossed i make the right move, put a smile on some otherwise not so happy faces, society asks us what reason do we have to smile and be happy with own perceptions of self-respect.
like we have to use money to be happy.
i say, fuck that!
whizz me under a chieftain tank alive if there's laws ever become passed to tax emotional states... >:(

Imagine the face of a 20 year old collector when an old veteran collector goes to them with a Little Samson or a Gold NWC Cart and entrust it to them to build their collection, man you could not replicate the smile on their face

^^ true!  :P
but  don't quite have anything that cool, but i see the point.
...
there's a board game shop just up the street from me, a warhammer type thing.
folks go in and play this giant D and D thing. the corner of the main area is just a small seating area with a PVR crt bolted to the wall.
that screen is just missing a a ps2, or some shit.
local run biz, and they show me paperworks, and they give as good of a deal they can without ripoff and stay afloat with a slight turnover, nothing major.
they have two daughters, 20 year somethings, and run the place in the stead of parents sometimes.
at least they premise is sound, give the kids somewhere irl to socialize again, like the concept of a youth center.
...
just look how divided we let ourselves become as a result of tech.
not IT'S fault, just gotta get some balance restored before the next generation become fuckin mindless droids, or worse... ???
...
yeah, a console or two for that shop corner will help, and i'll make sure they won't charge for playing em IF the bill was already footed to play board games on entry, ALL IN part of!  ;D
...
shit, i have to sleep, and it makes me a target to greedy fucks.
it weighs on the skull, ethics and that.
granted, i', a selfish bastard, but the line is drawn very close to myself, there's a limit to it.
NOBODY loses or pays for my rocks off, we trade even.  :P
