What do you do with dead games/systems?

I'm again, throwing another dead game in my box of dead stuff.

I've tried to find ways to repurpose dead gaming stuff but have come to where I've got a lot of no working shit.

Anybody else (besides maybe Wiggy ) have this problem without much of a solution?

Just fixed a PAL and U.S. SNES yesterday actually. U.S. SNES had a bad cart port, so I grabbed one from a beyond busted MoBo and swapped it. The PAL SNES blew a cap right off the MoBo. Found a replacement, Retrobright treatment to the shell, BAM!  Good as new

But I do still have box after box of busted consoles that haven't been touched in years

I try to fix them too.  Games also.  I'll get down with rewiring a bad game if traces are damaged.

Ya, I fix most stuff that is fixable also. I guess I should have worded it as: What do you do with stuff that's NOT repairable.

I've got a small box of games that look like they should work. Clean, and no phsical damage. I'm guessing the chips just shot the shit.

I figured I would use the shells to customize other games, or save them in case I run across a working game with a nasty label faded/torn shell.

Kinda like my PS1 clocktower game. It wouldn't boot into the main game no matter how much I buffed and cleaned it. Tried it on 5 different PS1's. Finally I just turned it into a clock and hung it on my wall...

That stuff ends up back in the box with repairable stuff and sometimes gets used for donor parts, and sometimes I pull it back out having forgot that I already tried to fix it, and I end up wasting more time on it lol!

But mostly just used for parts.

a fair question. 
if i can't fix it (or the work too professional for my skill set) then give it away to somebody who can fix/make good use of it.
keep parts i can use/work, but outside that, just sit on it til a viable home is found.
no charge though.
the ONLY condition is:
if it's too far from my home address THEY come and pick it up in a FULL public arena, to protect all sides.
no shipping for giveaways, unless, a pickup req/appointment is actually paid for on all levels by the recipient in advance.

Leave it laying around and think I may fix it someday, but it really just collects dust. I don't really know how replace chips, ports and things like that.

Parts. I have a few PS1's that I got from a friend that are somewhat gutted so I just keep them for parts. If I get something that IS fixable though it eventually gets fixed... Eventually. Actually, I'm waiting on some capacitors in the mail to fix a busted Game Gear right now.

anyone use *Insert Online Electronic Store that sells GB Shells* (you who know know) for replacement shells/screen covers for them working but very beat up games? *CHEAP PLUG* but Mr RoseColouredGaming here has some awesome shells for people to use

They are just there.

I keep it for awhile and tell the GF I plan of fixing them.  Then after a year of doing nothing with them I toss it our.

I have a dead 360, died when it was updating and now the entire system OS is corrupted.  I had to purchase a new and transfer over all my saved game data onto a new one.  I still have the old system but it just sits on a shelf collecting dust.  I just haven't gotten to doing anything with it now.

Make it into a doorstop. That's what I did with a stack of old 360s that I had. Then when I got sick of moving them from place to place, I left them in a lowe's parking lot.

Are optical discs repairable?
I have some Gamecube discs that have cracks/tears. Can't imagine it can be repaired, but perhaps there are ways?
