I've actually been hearing a lot of good things.

I'm a classic FPS fan.  I love the original Doom.  I love games like Dark Forces, and Duke Nukem 3D and PO'ed.  I'm also a big fan of the older Medal of Honor Games and the EARLY Call of Duty games.  Modern FPS don't do much for me.  Based on that, do you think I would enjoy the new Doom?
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

I never played those games you mentioned, except for the original Doom (first CoD was CoD2 on Xbox 360 which I liked). I do enjoy some modern FPS like Bioshock, Halo, and Portal, so we might have different tastes. That said, I would definitely recommend trying DOOM. Even if you don't like it as much as me, you'll surely appreciate the graphics, gameplay, and sound. Those 3 things are really well polished IMO.

BTW, I'm writing about the campaign. I don't like MP as much

The bolded part is good to hear.  MP is part of the reason why modern FPS don't do much for me.  It seems these days that they are designed around the MP part, and the single player campaign is an afterthought.  I understand that sells well, but it just isn't for me.  I just want a good single player game.

My first non-Everdrive brand flash cart.  This is for the Neo Geo Pocket Color.  It doesn't use an SD card, but you can load two small games at once or one large game.  The fact that I have to plug it into my computer to change ROMs doesn't bother me since it's a portable system and I would probably be playing it at my desk anyway.  Overall, I'm happy with it.

I picked up a nice, working Pearl Pink 3DS, 8 crappy DS games and a buttload of accessories for $10. Best deal this year for me.

Picked up a couple of nice Sega items pretty cheap:

$20 for Ghouls 'n Ghosts, $25 for Terminator.

Also, a manual for my NES DK:

Found it in a basket of loose manuals for $2 at the same store as the two Sega games.

Now that Goodwill and other thrift stores are really starting to price gouge for their video games, I'm finding better deals at actual game stores.  One particular Savers store has had several NES & SNES games on their shelves (actually in a glass case because they think they are gold) for months.  NES & SNES carts should sell within days at thrift stores, but unfortunately the employees clearly don't know how to price them.  They are obviously going by Ebay Buy-it-now asking prices, which are generally twice the actual value.  Nothing I hate more than thrift stores charging top dollar (plus sometimes a premium on top of that).

Target is doing another clearance sale.  They have a lot of $5 games.
