Hey TCP peeps,

Has anyone here successfully transferred their game data from one SD card to another using a Mac? I have followed Nintendo's instructions from their support website to the letter, and my 3DS says it can't read the data on the new card.

support article I used: http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/309/~/how-to-transfer-data-between-sd-cards-or-microsd-cards

The purpose of this was to expand memory I had in my 3DS.

I have tried 'quick format' as well as 'overwrite format' for the new card.

If anybody has any experience with this, any tips would be extremely appreciated!

Is it possible to transfer data from the SD card to the system?

Maybe a work around would be to unload your system onto the new card, dump the old card on to your 3DS, and arange from there, If all else fails.

I'm a PC user so I can't help you, maybe format the card on the 3DS and just copy the files over on the computer?

Yeah copying the files on the computer has been done.

I think what you're suggesting - and this is possible as I have 2 3DS systems - is I could put the new card in an old system and do a system transfer? But then if I move that card back over not everything will be there.

Everything should transfer, assuming it all fits on the SD card. I've done this a number of times. You don't need to bother with a desktop computer.

I got my answer - Nintendo actually has a support phone line, who knew?

Apparently 64GB is TOO big and they don't recommend that size for 3DS - they recommend nothing over 32GB which I think is BS, but hopefully I'll never need all of the 32GB since they all come with 4GB and I haven't needed to expand until this point.

Anyway, got a 32GB card, formatted and copied the same way, issue resolved!

Good to hear that it was easily resolved.

Who would EVER need more than 32GB?!  I mean, that's like more data than one could ever imagine! (From the minds of Nintendo...)

I got the Nintendo Humble Bundle for $12 and now I need to buy a hard drive for my 32GB Wii U to download the games :P

It's absurd that Nintendo is stuck in a timewarp. I mean, my phone has more storage capacity. My damned phone, and I fill it up with junk on a fairly regular basis.
