Do you ever feel burnt out?

PinBiohazard:

As the title suggests, do you ever feel burnt out? I recently have had a massive burn out (hence why I havent really been on here since about Nov time), just wondering what your experiences has been like?

Polygon:

All the time. Easily solved by a change in habits and what I'm doing. Right now I have a serious case of cabin fever. I'm burnt out on being stuck in the house.

Happens to everyone.  I tackle it by taking a break for a while and doing something else while I get my interest back.  For example, I've built muscle cars for the past 20 years, could tell you anything about engines, suspension, and all around function.  3 years ago, I burned out on it, so I put the cars in storage, and let them sit while I pursued other hobbies.  I've just started to get the itch again, and have begun pulling them out to go back where I left off.  The trick is to not get angry and sell everything related to a hobby you get burned out on.  Just put it away for awhile.  If, after the burnout subsides you decide you don't want to go back, then move on.

Seraph Man:

Agreed, the key is to just put it away. The more you force it, the more you'll end up hating it. Just put it away, and do something else. If I burn out on one game, I switch to a different game. Burn out on gaming? I'll grab a book, or go through a movie/tv series. Hell, there were some games I just couldn't even get into because I was in a similar mindset to being burnt out, even though I had just barely begun. So, I put it away, and went elsewhere. When I came back, I was refreshed, and I found myself having a blast with a game I wasn't feeling when I first booted it up.

TDIRunner:

Fortunately, I have lots of hobbies, so I tend to move from one to another as I get burned out.  After a while, I cycle back through them again.  I can honestly say that I never find my self to be bored.  The downside, is that having lots of hobbies can be kind of expensive depending on what they are.

As far as gaming goes, I find myself getting burned out on specific series.  I always want to play through a series from the start, but I often find that I can't make it past part 2 or 3.  It always happens to me when I try to play through the Tomb Raider or Resident Evil series.  I just wrapped up The Thousand Year Door last night (amazing game) and I finished Paper Mario immediately before starting TTYD.  My plan was to jump into SPM right after, but I'm thinking I need a break from story based Mario RPGs.  Also, I have a nice little treat coming in the mail which might encourage me to spend some time with another system here for a while.  But that's still a secret for now.  Pictures to come.
