As the title suggests, do you ever feel burnt out? I recently have had a massive burn out (hence why I havent really been on here since about Nov time), just wondering what your experiences has been like?

All the time. Easily solved by a change in habits and what I'm doing. Right now I have a serious case of cabin fever. I'm burnt out on being stuck in the house.

Happens to everyone.  I tackle it by taking a break for a while and doing something else while I get my interest back.  For example, I've built muscle cars for the past 20 years, could tell you anything about engines, suspension, and all around function.  3 years ago, I burned out on it, so I put the cars in storage, and let them sit while I pursued other hobbies.  I've just started to get the itch again, and have begun pulling them out to go back where I left off.  The trick is to not get angry and sell everything related to a hobby you get burned out on.  Just put it away for awhile.  If, after the burnout subsides you decide you don't want to go back, then move on.

Agreed, the key is to just put it away. The more you force it, the more you'll end up hating it. Just put it away, and do something else. If I burn out on one game, I switch to a different game. Burn out on gaming? I'll grab a book, or go through a movie/tv series. Hell, there were some games I just couldn't even get into because I was in a similar mindset to being burnt out, even though I had just barely begun. So, I put it away, and went elsewhere. When I came back, I was refreshed, and I found myself having a blast with a game I wasn't feeling when I first booted it up.

Fortunately, I have lots of hobbies, so I tend to move from one to another as I get burned out.  After a while, I cycle back through them again.  I can honestly say that I never find my self to be bored.  The downside, is that having lots of hobbies can be kind of expensive depending on what they are.

As far as gaming goes, I find myself getting burned out on specific series.  I always want to play through a series from the start, but I often find that I can't make it past part 2 or 3.  It always happens to me when I try to play through the Tomb Raider or Resident Evil series.  I just wrapped up The Thousand Year Door last night (amazing game) and I finished Paper Mario immediately before starting TTYD.  My plan was to jump into SPM right after, but I'm thinking I need a break from story based Mario RPGs.  Also, I have a nice little treat coming in the mail which might encourage me to spend some time with another system here for a while.  But that's still a secret for now.  Pictures to come.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

Funny thing that you ask this question.

Lately I have been cranking out covers like they where Crack at a Chicago street corner. 3DO, PS3, Xbox... At he height of this run, My motherboard crapped out on me.. Then after a couple of weeks I finally replaced all of the components and cranked the girl back up.

I was all exited about how she now has more power and ran WAY faster.. So I start Fireworks and Paintshop up!.. I am all ready to start making wonderful covers with my "awesome" updated comp.... and all of a sudden... I JUST FELT LIKE "MEH!!!"...

Between my business(es) and 3 year old AND health issues, I'm pretty much burnt 24/7.

Not to mention getting older = less energy in general :-\

Yep...  Feel totally burnt out right now.  Lots of turmoil going on in the family with health, finances, and trying to sell off a whole bunch of stuff because we're going to have to downsize our home in the next year or so.  My mind is pretty well constantly fried these days.  Been watching a lot of TV shows on Netflix and a lot of WWE Network as an escape.  Putting in a few hours at some mindless gaming too (ie games like Joe Danger or kart racing).  Seems to help a bit.

It's not the age for me, it's the mileage.  Children, health, and long hours at work takes its toll on you draining you of vital energy to do the things you like.

I go through waves of getting burnt out.

Like many others, I have many hobbies and I generally just fluctuate my time from one to another. This isn't always a perfect formula as there is a great deal of overlap with some of my hobbies (game collecting, fixing/cleaning consoles, reproductions, cover making).

I am a huge football fan and usually during the offseason I am able to dedicate my time towards other ventures. Perhaps because the Broncos won the Superbowl I am having difficulties shifting my focus. I'll take it though, no complaints, Go Broncos!

As every year passes I find myself less and less interested in actually playing games. I love learning about games and the history behind it and absolutely love collecting. I don't really find great joy in actually playing the majority of games though. Don't get me wrong, I do like games I just don't find myself having the desire to come home after work and fire up a system. This likely has to do with my profession (I sell video games for a living). If you spend every second of your workday talking about something it is offputting to come home and do the same thing.

I am far more interested in restoring or making a cover for a game than actually playing it (weird right?).

Actually that is not weird at all.  I have made covers for games that I have no desire to ever play but I wanted a cover for it, Shaq Fu is one that comes to mind.

Same here. Would way rather fix something or modify a piece of hardware than sit and play a game 99 times out of 100.
