I'm in the sit back and wait crowd. The idea interests me, but I think in a few years it will be cheaper and more refined. It's so neat though. Someday with the right software, one could tour museums or historical sites, watch a doctor perform surgery, see things through the eyes of an astronaut, or play games (duh). I look forward to watching the technology evolve.

Me and my wife have talked extensively about VR and the future of gaming as a whole.  We both agree that the differences between this gen (PS4 and XB1) are not very different from last gen (PS3 & XB360) consoles.  It's like the time we first realized we can hook up a game console with Component or RGB rather than composite, and the picture quality improved substantially.  That's what a PS4 reminds me of when compared to a PS3.  If the PS5 and XBox Two(?) do the same trend, I think there's going to be a lot of people reluctant to upgrade to the newer system.  Heck, I was a day 1 buyer of the PS4, and I really wish I waited about a year to buy one.  It seems (opinion here) that virtual reality is the logical leap forward considering things like 4K TV's haven't really taken off, and even so, the difference is not as apparent as it would be to compare a tube TV with an HDTV.  I think that (more opinions here) game developers realize this, and that they're putting a lot of hype and development into VR in order to create new and unique content.  I don't think that standard gaming will go away.  Heck, the WiiU developed a Pro Controller just for those 'normal' type of games.  I know I'm using lots of generalization with the consoles, but I didn't want to drag it out and sound like an Ein post, lol.
