No other company retains value like Nintendo

Seriously, Does anyone else's games retain value like first party Nintendo titles? I mean, even games like PokePark on the Wii are still around $30. Wii U games haven't hardly dropped at all, and everything Gamecube and earlier are only going up. I'm exclusively a Nintendo collector, but is there any other library that has this much staying power? I'm not talking about rare titles like M.U.S.H.A. or Hyperstone Heist. But maybe that's just a testament to how strong Nintendo's first party lineups are. Thoughts?

That's not even important.  Look at SMW.  It's like a $25 game now.  They literally gave that game away with every console for years, yet it keeps going up in value, along with virtually EVERY 1st party Nintendo title, including the shitty-as-hell Virtual Boy library.  They used the drop the prices of their games after about a year or two.  Still, doesn't matter it would seem.

You've played multiple Pokemon and Mario games in your past and had an enjoyable experience. Now that you are an adult you want to enjoy those experiences again ... and so does everyone else. The supply doesn't get any greater but the demand does. People also trust the brand name of those titles and continue to buy. Cycle, repeat

Nostalgia definitely plays a part in retro games like the example wiggy gave but that doesn't explain why new games stay full price for so long. Super Mario 3D World is still a $60 game and so is Mario Kart 8 and so many more Nintendo published games. But games like Rodeo and the countless Lego games are $20-$30. Hell, I even bought Halo 5 for $25 the other day. Nintendo reminds me of Disney, prices never lower and they stop selling them whenever they feel like it and people (including myself) keep giving them money.

I think part of it has to do with the fact that Nintendo games are exclusive to the Nintendo systems.  Granted, you can get Halo 3 for 4.00 these days and the FF Lightning series is pretty cheap, but Nintendo games have a graceful charm that appeals to more people.

My love for Nintendo won't dissappear, just missing N64 and Wii U, but Nintendo will be always my favorite.

it's true from a novice pov, but one only needs to look at why.
the customer base.
others are known for it, as i'm trying to fill some rpg/JRPG sockets in my shelf, namely the ps2 side.

the games i seeks are stupid in co$t, and relatively rare in my area.
.hack series is one example. (i can't find even one retail chapter irl of the saga, let alone all of them.)

got lucky dodging most of the hype, did away with the like of e3 (and cohorts) for this reason.

Plus, let's face it, they really do make some of the best games out there.  It's not like we're taking about old Aklaim sports titles or anything

I was at Wal-Mart tonight and couldn't believe that Mario Kart Wii was still $40.  That blew my mind. 

I've said for a while now that I wanted a Wii U before any other current gen system.  The problem is that they still won't drop the price of the console itself, and 100% of the games I want are first party titles, and despite many of them being pretty old already, still sell for $50 each.  It would cost me a fortune to get the small Wii U collection that I want.  I still want a Wii U, but at this point, I might as well wait until it gets discontinued and replaced by the next system.

Nintendo Selects are coming soon, if you've got Amazon Prime, you can get titles like Pikmin 3, Super Mario 3D World, and Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze for a mere $16. They've also got a good selection of Wii and 3DS games for that price.

Ok, you have my attention.  How does that work?  Do Prime members have first opportunity, or just cheaper prices?
