Toss a dart at a HUGE list of games mixed with LOL games and for realz games and buy that one.

This Seams to be a fun idea, but i think you should add to that list the games every one is recommending here and some of your choice.

Go for a new system that you've been putting off buying, and make your 2000th whatever the pack-in game was for that system.

Abd this one is also a good one.

From Atari 2600 - PS2, I've got 910 games actually catalogued. I've got more for those systems, just not inventoried yet. Also, that does NOT include PC games. I will NOT include Steam/Digital games in my collection. Only Physical. So in the end, I would guesstimate I got around 1500 games.
What are you looking at? You think baby's don't like video games? THEN YOU DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT BABIES!!

I'm the same way.  I still catalogue them so I can track them and if someone asks how many games I have including digital, I can say.  But in my mind, my collection number is physical only.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

I'm currently at 3535 physical catalogued games.  Still need to do all my old Spectrum tapes/disks, so probably another couple of hundred at a guess.  Might have to go for something special for number 4000!  ;D

By the way, how are the renovations coming along?

I'm now standing at 4977 and have been thinking for quite some time what my 5000 will be. I think maybe one I always wanted but never wanted to afford like Dracula X or Evo or Earthbound. Let's see if I can bring myself to shelving out so much money. I fear not.

  • ...and that's the bottom line
Get a game that means something to you. If it's not a game of a franchise maybe a game by the same developer.

I'm at 999 games right now. I wanted my 1000th to be Mighty No. 9, because Mega Man 3 for the NES is not only one of my favourite games of all time, it was also the first game I ever bought myself as a kid. So I thought it would be fitting to get Mighty No. 9, coming full circle so to say. Now that it's been delayed (again) I thought about Street Fighter V being my 1000. Since Street Fighter 2 was the first game I bought for my SNES and it sparked my love for fighting games.
So maybe go that route if you have games that fit that formula.

But I have to say, I really like the suggestion to get a new system and make the pack-in game your 2000.
Maybe i should finally get a Neo Geo with SamSho II or KOF94 or a Saturn with Cyberbots :D

Wiggy wins. #2000 in my collection will be in the hands of Wiggy, I trust he'll make it a good one  :D

I'm too late on this but I was going to suggest Bubble Bobble Part 2 on NES. That is a rare gem that is worth over $200 cartridge only. I won both Bubble Bobble games in one auction on eBay for $255 almost two years ago. Later on, I bought the manual for Bubble Bobble. I'm still trying to find a copy of the manual for Bubble Bobble Part 2. It won't be easy considering how super rare it is.
