I got burgled about 3 years ago. They took my PS3, Wii, DS, and PSP. They left the stack of Everdrive products that was worth more than all of those put together. They left the $1000 stack of SNES rpgs. They ignored the Neo Geo games.

If you're a retro fan like me, burglars don't care about your collection. They care about what they can fence quickly. All in all, they cost me MAYBE $1000 and if they knew what they were looking at could have cost me ten times that in the same volumetric space.

So basically... I don't worry too much. If I ever took a real serious hit? I'd probably just take it as a sign that I should move on and go into a new hobby.

;D ^^ pretty optimistic on the 'new hobby' bit, not so sure i be as resigned, or accepting, though it makes sense if you're capable.  8)
not many 'retro' heads where i'm at either, but it's sorta a roach motel kinda deal.
if a dwelling is successfully cased and robbed, the fixtures and fittings tend to follow, absolutely anything that isn't a brick itself is fair game...
and usually is the rule.
rare is the exception of a 'partial' smash n grab in my area, and i know from experience what it's like to come back to a shell, and having to start from scratch.
i bet a good chunk of this very userbase have done exactly that too, restarted from scratch...for whatever reason totally out of their control.  :-\
i plan on NOT getting turned over again, whatever it takes... ;D

Having games in UGCs likely helps. They take up about 3-4 times as much space as loose carts, so hauling a bunch away would be a bitch.

it's definitely optimistic, but really... Emulation is damn good these days. Near perfect for most pre-N64 systems (which is my bread and butter). So if I lost it all, I'd be sad, but at the same time... I could still play all/most of the games, just wouldn't have the hunks of plastic, so I think I'd survive.

Mostly though just hoping not to have to deal with it again.
