For me, walking around gets to be a big issue. I take multiple city buses up to collage, sidewalks get huge piles and slippery. Piles are hard to climb over when crossing streets or getting on to buses. Last year was bad were it kept snowing and none of it was melting. My street gets around 2-4 feet narrower from the snow pushed out of the way by plows. It really sucks for mailmen as mailboxes are normally far back. When I took the school bus in Middle and High School there was always one house that never shoveled their sidewalk on the way to the bus stop. Snow a few days ago was not too bad, other than the hours of shoveling to just get filled back in, I hope it does not snow any more. Snow days in school stopped being fun when you were the one that had to shovel and still had to do all the school work anyway. |

--- Quote from: Arseen on January 24, 2016, 08:58:36 PM ---True that only 80 000 people live in this area, but that has nothing to do with readiness. The area has tens thousands of kilometers of road, and the clearing crews aren't that big, but there are plenty of them situated correctly, and thus no snowblocks had time to form. It is as simple as situating the crews correctly in the preparation. When the snowing started we were prepared and immediately when needed the snow clearers went to work For example this little town I live in has has 2 centers and about 300 kilometers of public road and plenty of store fronts and yards and such, yet 5 tractors and truck kept it clean easily as they had coordinated plan. Private roads were kept clean too by their owners. As to the biggest airport of Finland: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-12042213 And yes I know that big cities have problem with parking blocking the roads, which makes things way harder, but then leave the cars and use public transportation. --- End quote --- You missed my point. Preparation isn't something that's always possible. This wasn't typical weather. You get bombarded with a ton of snow every season. You guys just expect it, like the sun coming up every morning, so of course your ready. Seriously, you really need to not criticize the situation. It's honestly a bit ignorant. --- Quote from: marioxb on January 24, 2016, 09:39:11 PM ---Don't forget that us Americans are lazy too. Not only the people who would clean the snow, but those of us who would love to miss work due to the snow. --- End quote --- Speak for your own damn self. Why perpetuate this entirely BS stereotype? |
