Anyone else see this?  I picked up a copy of Bayonetta 2 (includes Bayonetta 1) at Gamestop for less than 20.00 a few weeks ago, and now it's hitting 65.00 and over on Ebay.  I'm assuming it's because Nintendo is about to re-release it, but without the Bayonetta 1 disc.  Regardless, if you have a copy currently, it's a bit more valuable than when you bought it.  I wonder if this is what will eventually happen to Rodea the Sky Soldier when they stop including the Wii pack in disc.
I'm bender3455 on playstation network, feel free to add me!

Bummer.  I was actually just thinking about finally getting this game.  But honestly, I already have B1 on other consoles, so it isn't like I'll be missing anything when they rerelease it.  Still, just shows you how crazy collector's will drive the price up on just about anything.  No matter how common.

You can also buy B1 for $30 on eShop. Or, like, $3 on PS3 and 360

I know I sound like a broken record, but since when did Nintendo games become the stock market?

I bought it when it was released and I still haven't played it yet. Mainly because I can't stand playing the Wii U.
What are you looking at? You think baby's don't like video games? THEN YOU DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT BABIES!!

My guess...

Everything Nintendo releases is already a more limited printing then most Sony or MS games.  This seemed to be the case with GameCube and maybe Wii U but maybe not with the Wii.  Unlike the GameCube and Wii, there has not been any "Greatest Hits" line for the Wii U or 3DS for that matter.  Usually when a game got a reprinting, it was thrown in a Greatest Hits line at a discounted price. While some more popular games for Wii U and 3DS have got a reprinting they have stayed at the same initial release price (OOT 3D), have come with "less stuff" (Like Bayonetta here), or they just haven't got a second printing since they weren't popular at launch but have since become popular (Pikmin 3).  Combine that with the general consensus that first party Nintendo games are usually pretty high quality, in demand, and are the most popular games on the system and you have prices stay high or go up when a game sells though its initial print run.

I pretty much knew that the first run of Bayonetta 2 would some day be a "rare" game as soon as it launched.  Niche, but popular, game on a system that usually doesn't have games like Bayo on it that is going to have a lower print run because it's on a Nintendo system. It took some time to sell through it's print run but now it's dried up and prices are going back up.

This is all just speculation of course.

I assumed it's because of Smash, a few people went out to buy it, one person put that on the internet, and it turned into a feeding frenzy. I got mine from Gamestop for like $20.
My cover requests:

Jade Cocoon (PS1)
Shovel Knight (3ds/WiiU)

I'm excited to hear about the No-Bayo-1 re release. When I bought it, I considered splitting the discs into two separate cases because people here made such beautiful Bayo 1 WiiU artwork, but the starburst "Includes Bayo 1!" on the 2 sleeve annoyed me if I was gonna do that.

Now hopefully someone will scan the clean 2 artwork and I can reprint it and separate them.

Oh the first wireless problems of a shelf queen.

fortunately the euro version (possibly other regions as well...don't know ) came in 2 separate cases, so no problems for me...

This.

It's not out of print.  It sold more than 90,000 copies. It is not rare. There will be more, and they'll be a reasonable price. Just like Amiibo and all other artificial Nintendo hype, it'll pass.

Jup I also think the only collectible version of Bayonetta 2 will the first print limited big box version. A beautiful piece if I may say so myself. I tihnk that was one of the few times I bought myself a limited edition in my life.

(uploading a few scans, isp is a prick, irl and that!  :P )
yeah, i'm not sure what i can contribute to this one, it's academic, as indicated a few posts up.
can depend where you are irl shops on price gouging, england (north west specifically) is notorious for it, they use EFUCKS as a basic price reference, and it somehow carries weight. (stay armed guys, mob rule wishes to deprive you of your fair gains coz they get shafted on masse, and feel they have stake in yours.)
xeno and pandoras tower for wii are just two examples, not seen irl a retail copy remake of klonoa yet. ???
we're not hard done to, it's a question of knowing the 'right' peoples, the gvt/corps made it this way, exploit it.  ;D
the few games scored 'over the counter' was dildod at the register, cooked invoice, as NO 'laws' broken, they only care about TAXES, not what's left to the peasants.
good guys, and if it wasn't for THEM, selling at a mere fraction of the ticket price, those scans wouldn't be here. (three cheers for the impossible crew.) ;D
...
just one observation, yet no matter what the 'speculation' is, a common pattern has emerged globally, and it's down to the individual to deal with it as approached.
in my case, wait like a POS, i don't have the finances, and even if i did, not so sure i would spend blindly, eminent domain can fuck up a persons outlook, and makes them hold onto the little treasures they've earned, with EXTREME prejudice.  >:(
ramble.  :P

I feel like everyone just trying to find the next EvoBound Whatever, speculating on what game will be rare and they will be able to retire on. It's just annoying for people who just want to buy and play the dam game. As I probably said before, Nintendo became a stock market.

^^ yeah, it's not just chintendo though.
all depends on what it is, regardless of platform.
i can rap off a small list of ps3 games that are extortionate on ebay...
oh wait, i already did, by way of raw scans. (next to nothing/fraction of ticket cost, or free. if i could go back in time to FIND who made it 'it's who you know, NOT what you know' i'll destroy the continuum just to sate my anger on the subject.  >:( )
