a diskless optical drive?
look up storage mediums.
it's likely to be a solid state area (or high capacity cartridge/sm) the wii has 256m, wiiu 32g flash nand.
probably use hardisks too, maybe an existing bus like sata or usb?! ;D

I'm wagering more on Wiggy's opinion though. It would be nice to have a first ever dedicated Nintendo IOS gaming device.
amiga1200:
??? er, yeah?!
your option, and it's not relevant to my point.
to elaborate:
if the console DOESN'T use optical medias (or other) that can't be removed, it's therefore a flash area, fixed storage.
the same applies to many (if not all) ios devices, namely apple with their locked up to FUCK tech, with no sockets to plug cards in... >:(
just making that clear.
use correct terminology please. :P (or at least clarify.)

i was hoping it would have a cartridge system or something since it has no optical drive..it seems that wont be the case..im not gonna like the idea of this being digital only and it seems thats how it will be which is really gonna bother me im a big fan of physical copies of games and i feel once all major console producers go this route we might have another video game market crash..or..i honestly hope we do so that the generation after that will contain physical media again i choose to not guess at what the nx is anymore my guess was always some sort of hybrid even before that was talked about like maybe the device COMES WITH something that can go with you when you leave your house and something u can dock.. i dont know tho i just hope it has SOME FORM of physical media
Arseen:
No physical media = no buy.
Einhander:
You guys got to realize that there is no physical media for phone games, as far as I know. So if Nintendo comes out with the most awesome IOS-Android gaming device, no buy? The device itself is physical and I'm sure on this forum people can print out artwork
