I'm Customizing Some Games

a good primer coat as a base (let dry/cure) then a decent spray paint.
an automobile paint can be okay, blast/powder coating is the biz if you get access to a workshop.  ;D
if in the habit of 'baning' out cartridge pcb housings, a small set of paints for the job could be thought? (depending how many vs etc...)

Just to make sure, the "snap together" carts are the ones that don't need screws, and in fact have fake screws incorporated into the plastic right?

If so, I've never held them in my hand, but I've seen pictures.  They look pretty crappy to me.  "Ick" would be putting it nicely.

Most are bad but I've seen few that are quite close to originals qualitywise.
I still prefer originals.
