I'm Customizing Some Games
amiga1200:
so, no gratitude for the time put your way?
wonderful. ::)
if you're any good with CAD, you could draw up the housing dimensions, send the diagrams to a plastics factory,
injection moulded shells would be that case, as it is for the originals.
if you get the readies, hit up your nearest chemical plant (ici if in UK) and they may bosh out some shells, but be prepared to pay out of the dick.
that's all from me, and don't eat it all too fast, you may choke. ;D

Managed to score myself a Link to the Past and SNES cart back labels at Retro Game Cases and a gold-molded SNES cart on eBay. So far, so good.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaand the fun stops there. For the life of me, I could not find any custom color 3DS cart shells or gold NES ones.I found several colored NES ones, but they were, more or less, shit. Google pretty much failed me, so did RetroUSB. Hell, if I had some more money and he said okay, I'd commission Wiggy to do it.
I guess what I'm asking is... Does anyone here know of someplace I SHOULD be looking?

What kind of gold you are looking for, I am working with a Chinese supplier that designates on plastic and coincidentally he is making the SNES and NES shells. Let me know and I might be able to help. This way no need to paint.

What kinds of gold are there?
I've got one gold SNES cart shell coming my way, so no worries there, I guess. Now for an NES cart shell, I kinda want to avoid gold chrome. More like the gold carts they used for Zelda 64 and Majora's Mask are what I have in mind.
No

a good primer coat as a base (let dry/cure) then a decent spray paint.
an automobile paint can be okay, blast/powder coating is the biz if you get access to a workshop. ;D
if in the habit of 'baning' out cartridge pcb housings, a small set of paints for the job could be thought? (depending how many vs etc...)

You can't powder coat plastics.
