So Luke is pretty obviously Rey's father.  Who do you guys think is the mother?  I'm going with Phasma at the moment, for a number of reasons.

I actually don't think Luke is Rey's father (Jedi are forbidden to have families, etc).  While it's possible *see prequels* my theory was that she was part of the training program Luke set up a few decades ago.  My guess is she was hidden from Kylo Ren so she wouldn't be killed too.  That's why she was left on generic dessert planet 46.  Jedi mind wipe is also a thing, apparently.  It also explains her mental connection with Ren, considering they may have been part of the same training.

...I'm sorry...Han Solo went out like a bitch.  I know that scene was supposed to be emotional, and deep...but come on.  You watch Empire or Jedi and then tell me this guy gets sucker skewered by his own son.  Personally, I'd have liked to see him go down in a blaze of glory, crashing the falcon in to a star destroyer, or setting off a bomb to kill a bad guy - self sacrifice, not blind stupidity.

And honestly, the villains of this film needed work.  Grand Master Gollum was surprisingly bland and generic (fingers still crossed it turns out to be Jar Jar, lol), Darth rat face was fine until he took his damn mask off and lost all credibility.  I actually laughed when we saw his face...I am not intimidated by this guy.  At all.  Good actor, but not main villain material.  And did anyone else think silver storm trooper Brienne was a total write off?  I thought she was supposed to be this bad ass general, and she was just a waste.

Don't get me wrong - really liked the movie.  First 45 minutes were mind blowingly amazing.  And I feel the sequels will be even better.  These are minor gripes, but at the moment, they are what sticks out in my mind.

Actually, I think that's the point.  We aren't supposed to be intimidated by this guy (at least not yet).

How intimidating was darth before he was darth?  Even less so than this guy.

True, however for the first half of the film, he WAS kind of badass.  That opening scene in the village, threatening the general, etc.
The problem with a mask is once you remove it, you remove the mystique and presence that comes with it.
Hence why an unmasking usually takes place at the end of a film.

wiggy:

I only recall him being weak, poorly trained, conflicted and having thrown several toddler-like temper tantrums throughout the film.

I think you might be missing the point of this character.  He's not Darth Vader.  Who he is will not be the ultimate mystery of this trilogy.  It wasn't meant to be, obviously.

Spiden:

Vader was calm, collected and tactical. That made him predictable. Kylo is chaotic and unstable, just like his lightsabre. I find that even more threatening.

And it just made him look real bad. He died without even being heroic. At least when Captain Kirk died, he died with dignity. Han on the other hand died randomly and it looked lazy. Ford just did one last film for the cash.

Seriously though, I think Star Wars is overrated and very nerdy, but that's just me. Can't stand people that geek out over it and can't stand people who don't use smart phones. Those 2 ideas aren't mutually exclusive. But Star Wars geeks, I don't get them. Go watch Creed. The troopers look like they are made out of plastic. The film looked outdated and not very thought out.

And also the Princess looked very grumpy. Her and Ford were basically good for nothing in that film. No passion at all. And then Luke was taking a vacation on that island. he could have saved Han. Luke was looking very old by the way. Not a good look for the franchise.

And Luke's daughter is a nobody. Not interesting at all. Very dull in my opinion. Should have at least put a Megan Fox in that role.

2/10 wouldn't see it again. Most overrated film ever.
