So for anyone who backs up their Steam games and needs them cased up, I have a template that I've been working on.

It uses the new blue color scheme that Steam has, and the back is made in such a way as to make it easier to make batches of these things quickly, given nothing more than the information / screenshots provided by the game's page on the Steam store. I have more examples here showing off the template along with the accompanying disc label I've created. Enjoy

Any thoughts? Comments? Critiques? Thanks in advance.

Edit 3-23-16: I'm going to start using this post as a master link area where you can access all of the covers. I'll still add previews as more covers get finished. Enjoy!
Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Antichamber
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
The Banner Saga
Bastion
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Batman: Arkham City

Added a new section to the template to help identify features as well as fill up some dead space near the ratings info on the back.

It's lined up as six blank circles, which will be filled with these icons if a feature is present. Basically an easy way to tell what a Steam title does/does not have. There are icons for Single Player, Multiplayer, Control type (keyboard, partial controller and full controller), achievements, Steam cards, and cloud saving.

Example of the feature in action:
The Banner Saga

And now some more covers I've been working on.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

Bastion

Mirror's Edge

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II

Star Wars: Republic Commando

Tomb Raider

Tomb Raider: Legend

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War

Not much of an update but I have created a version of the template to go with games from GOG.com. The color scheme is based on that of GOG's Galaxy download client.

Deus Ex

I also have more covers on the way, and am getting them all prepared for download if anyone wants them. I'll be posting the Box link soon.

Steam automatically creates a backup installer that is divided up based on the size of your backup media - so for instance BioShock Infinite is around 15 GB, so it would compress the game a bit and divide it among 3 DVDs (~4.6 GB each) or 2 DVD9s (8 GB each). During the backup process it asks what kind of media you're backing a game up to.

For GOG games, the backup installer is a basic .exe file and compressed archives, so you could just put the files on the disc(s) and install it like a normal game.

As for the covers themselves, I have BioShock Infinite already done, and I'm getting the files ready to host for download. My next post will probably contain the link to the overall folder for all of the finished covers.

I've been wanting to get all my PC games in DVD cases. This might be the template to go with. I can't until you're done and upload it.

Here's what I have so far; I'll also put this link in the top post and update it as I make more covers. This link has subfolders for GOG and Steam covers.

Enjoy!

I'm not gonna lie, I'm in love with this template. It makes me want to go back and actually case up some of my PC games. It's simple but solid. I'll ask for the template, though I'll be honest in that I might not get a whole lot done with it myself. I just want to have it, in case I decide to stop being lazy and retry my hand at cover making.

Glad you like it! As far as I know there's nothing else I'm doing with the template as far as changes go, so here are the templates.

link Steam Template - DVD case
link Steam Template - Disc label
link GOG Template - DVD case
link GOG Template - Disc label
link Font file - Interface DaMa Lt (used for almost all text)

If anyone ends up making anything with this, feel free to toss it up in this thread. I'll be working on more covers as time passes so either way there's more to come!

I've been toying around with this template a bit due to the simplicity. I'm not super happy with the non-Nuclear Throne/Borderlands 1 discs but I can't figure a way to make them better. Do note that I changed the numbers on the Borderlands discs to black after I rendered it.

Two small notes:
1) The GoG template still has the Steam Terms of Service on it.
2) It might be because I use Paint.NET, but instead of having an entirely blue banner on the Steam cases the template is blue fading into black.

Those covers are pretty cool; loving the Tales from the Borderlands discs.

As for the template, I'll look into those issues with the blue to black fade on the Steam template and I'll correct the GOG terms of service. The GOG was kind of a thing I was playing around with so I must have overlooked that.

I'm also planning to get some more covers of my own uploaded so stay tuned :P

These look FANTASTIC. I wonder if it'd be possible to get an alternate version of the template made to fit Giftcard cases.

They're essentially DVD cases but much smaller. Here's one ready-to-print from my TG16 template that fits them so you'll have a read on sizes.

I can't measure one right now because I am out of town.

Alright so I fixed some problems that I noticed with the GOG template like the Steam copyright info (which I totally overlooked) and removed any references to the old Steam template such as logos and unused layers. This should work for everyone.

GOG Template v2

These look FANTASTIC. I wonder if it'd be possible to get an alternate version of the template made to fit Giftcard cases.

Here's what I came up with by resizing everything to work with that cover's dimensions. Let me know if there are any issues with the template.
TG16-sized Steam template

I also made some slight tweaks to the Steam template to replace the digitized texture on the front banner with a blue gradient to better match the rest of the template (also, the pixel fade used wasn't exactly perfect). I'll test it out a few times before uploading the updated version.

It might be because I use Paint.NET, but instead of having an entirely blue banner on the Steam cases the template is blue fading into black.

It may be because of Paint.NET, not sure as I've never used it. I loaded it up in Photoshop and saved JPEGs with it and it seems to display the correct color. Deleting or just hiding the layer with the pixel fade on the front banner should fix your problem.
