As I was cutting some covers for my Game Boy collection the notion struck me of, "Wow, thank all the serious collectors for holding onto their box art." I'm new to the forum and while I visit the site often I can't say I have the talent to create anything for The Cover Project. I do, however, want to thank every contributor, every graphic designer, and every video game enthusiast for providing such convenient content for the collectors at large. My own video game collection has been growing and finding this site was a great relief when it came to long term storage and presentation of my games.

Most importantly, one type of person who I'd like to thank are all of the game collectors who held onto their boxes (mainly Nintendo brand boxes) and kept them in such pristine condition. To take the time to run high quality scans must have taken up a lot of free time on their part. I don't know if you guys ever get much credit for what you do, but I wanted to let you know that as a gamer, and more specifically a retro game enthusiast, I genuinely do appreciate the work you've all done.

Many of the scans we get at the cover project are in terrible shape. We have a lot of talented artist that pains takenly rebuild them. We're happy to help you with your collection!

Quality scans from guys like Banisher are important and worthy of thanks, but the real heroes are the cover artists. They put a lot of time and effort into cleaning and perfecting covers.

Thank you guys for clarifying. With anything like this it's amazing to me how such a small community provides all the content out there. I'm sure there are thousands of collectors who have benefited from what the few people do here on the forums. This thread isn't meant to ass kiss, just I know it's a rather thankless hobby at times for people and they still spend their free time contributing to the site. I always felt that small online communities like this one never get the recognition they deserve.

Comments very much appreciated.  It can be frustrating when you spend hours on covers and nobody says anything, but the best thanks is when someone shows off photos of their collection and you spot one of your covers on their shelf.  That's what makes it all worthwhile.

I don't make many covers compared to a lot of other people on the site, but this is exactly how I feel. :)

Welcome to The Cover Project, thecardiganking! Your comments made my day! I'm very happy you like the hard work we put into making video game covers. I have been making Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance covers. A lot of them have recently made it to the site as well. I've been making covers for 2 years so far. However, I don't know what I enjoy doing most: playing the games or making covers. I find myself spending more time making covers because I feel I'm doing something constructive.

That's why I suggested a "like" button for forum posts. But everyone said it would make the site too Facebooky. Whatever.  ::)

If you have nothing to do... Don't do it here!
