Hello all,

I really hope this is not taken as spam or something but I think I have earned the right to not be considered such a person by now. ha ha.

Also, this is something that is very important to my Mrs and I, and I just want to try every possible way in which the charity she works for can gain further funding from local and national authorities here in England - at a time of massive cuts to support functions for those in serious need (especially those with ill mental health).

First things first, my wonderful lady has been making the world a more manageable place for adults with Autism and various other difficulties for a while now.

They are of course, under the narrow minded and elitist austerity measuring government we have, having their funding drastically reduced..........so are now in real jeopardy of having to shut down the entire project, leaving all of the group attendees with literally nowhere else to turn to for any real support - outside of having medications thrown at them and told to fuck off.

Hence, a strategy has devised to attract funding under the banner of appealing to the work-centric nature of our government (and all of course), who are as you would imagine and probably experienced, completely disregarding of severely impactfull/socially debilitating mental health issues (ie: if you are not working for whatever reason, or attempting to get into work, then you are undeserving of support).......subsequently this new project is to help such people gain employability as well as the general life skills they have been developing already.

Therefore, if you guys could spend 28 seconds to follow the link below and vote for the Brighton and Hove Impetus project in the South East Region - it would obviously be massively appreciated by us but more importantly all the guys who very much need this support to continue - as for the majority of them it is sadly their only social interaction with both the outside world and others who experience life in such a similarly difficult and distressing way.

Many thanks in advance guys.

Amazing, thank you very much guys............I know its a weird one but it means a lot and I just had the thought this morning of reaching out here and my sports forum to hopefully see if I had gained enough trust for some of you to have a little read and make a few clicks.

Even if its just you 3 guys then that is 3 more votes than if I hadnt, so absolutely worth it!

Thanks again and although Im not sure when she will hear of the results of this, I shall try to come back and update this thread when we do.  :P

Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

People with mental health problems are treated like used paper bags in the U.S.  My wife works as a psych nurse practitioner.  I've heard dozens upon dozens of seemingly hopeless stories. Makes me feel awful.

Done and done...

I actually have agoraphobia and social anxiety myself, which prevent me from being able to live and work as a 'normal' person would, so I definitely understand the stigma attached to people with issues.  I was lucky enough to get some income through SSI after five years of applications and denials.  Many people aren't that lucky and programs such as this can be a lifesaver.
