How old does a sealed game have to be before you WILL NOT open it?

Depends.  I open when I get around to it.  Although some games just get put to the side and I forget.  I have many PS1 on Dreamcast sealed games that I never got to back in the day and now they will stay sealed as I have no time foe them.  I got about 30-40 sealed games spanning about 7(?) consoles.  Some will get opened and played while others I know I wont get to so they stay sealed.

I've bought very few games with the intention to keep sealed, all wii games since I have other means to play them

The Last Story Collectors Edition
Pandora's Tower
Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii and 3ds versions)
Sakura Wars
Arc Rise Fantasia
Sin and Punishment
Muramasa Demon Blade
Sky Crawlers Innocent Aces

I have a few others that are sealed but those listed above are ones that I will most likely never open.  Unless I can find a 2nd copy for super cheap I'll eventually get around to opening the rest of the games

Rodea the Sky Soldier Collectors Edition and Xenoblade Chronicles X Collectors Edition are going to be 2 others I'll keep sealed.  Since I don't mind buying the normal versions to play them.

If I intend to play a new game I either borrow or pick up used.  As far as systems go I try to get every limited edition and keep them unopened. One of my favorite parts of my collection is my 3DS collection, every 3DS XL, new 3dDS, and most of the regular 3DS systems new in box. If I stop to think about it, it seems like a dumb thing to do but I like it.

If you enjoy it, and it's not bankrupting you, then it doesn't seem dumb at all to me.

Besides, Nintendo hardware has proven to be a far better investment than dumping your money into a bank where it actually becomes less valuable, given the typical savings account interest rate of virtually 0%
Polygon:
I don't care how old a game is. I will always open it. However, if it's valuable I'll sell it to someone that give a crap about sealed games and buy a copy I can play.
