Nice Metal Gear cover. That was on my to do list as well, now I can skip it  :)

I had some time and made one for Burai Fighter, it's on my Dropbox but as of right now I can't get a thumb up on Tinypic. When I upload it, it "successfully" uploads, but it shows the "this image or video has been moved or deleted" for the thumb on their site and trying to view it gives me a 404 error.  Deleted it and uploaded it multiple times with no real success.

Thanks for the kind words! Your Burai Fighter cover looks good as well! The only thing I noticed on that one is that you have a SNES product code on it.

Nice catch, I don't know how I ended up doing that. Just uploaded a fixed one to Dropbox, thanks.

Side note, it looks like TinyPic fixed whatever my issue was so here is the 3d box I made for it as well.

Ok so I made one for Karnov I just finished today. But I want to ask your opinions on it, specifically the back image. As you can see there is not much text on the back of the box so I had a pretty big space to fill even with putting spaces in the text. There wasn't much good art for the game that I could find so I ended up using a picture of Karnov but from a later fighting game he was also in. Do you think it looks good? I was kind of hesitant using art from another game of the same character like this but I needed something big. The other thing I thought of was just cutting out the cover image of him with the pillars behind him and putting it there, but also didn't like the idea of using the cover image again.

I uploaded the full size one to Dropbox too if you want a closer look.

I think it looks pretty good. I've resigned myself to the fact that some games just don't have a lot of art available. I like to use the RF Generation website to find different versions of the game...maybe on different consoles, or the JP versions.

In the case of Karnov, there are a few different titles that you might be able to get different art from. Maybe you can clean this image up and use it for something?

RF Generation Database search: http://www.rfgeneration.com/cgi-bin/search.pl

As for the text on the back, I'm with you...some games just don't have enough. I've thought about just making some up, but I'm not a particularly great writer. The Ninja Gaiden II cover I made had the same issue.

Hopefully this helps. My apologies if I gave you info that you already knew.

I know what you mean. A few I have planed I know there is not going to be any game art for them. The OCD in me wants it all to be perfect even though I know it won't be the case for some of them. No I never heard of that site but will check it out, thanks. I mainly just use Google Image for the background image/s and to look for an image for below the text. If I find one I like I sometimes use https://www.tineye.com/ to see if I can find a bigger or better quality version, although it doesn't always find the image.

One other thing I'm worrying about is some game covers won't fit well. I don't really like cropping too much from the retail art, but some of them just won't work. I'd like to use the retail cover art instead of a custom image, but trying to fit a vertical image into a horizontal space isn't easy. The main reason I did Rygar the way I did is because I didn't want to crop too much for it to fit and resizing it "smashed" it. I have Fester's Quest on my to do list and not only is the entire cover one big image, there is a Nintendo Seal on it as well. Not only is it not going to fit well, that Seal is going to be hard to remove because of where it's located and what's behind it, you can't just cover it up with a solid color.

I mean, I could crop the top right below the logo, move/resize the logo, but there is the Seal and other text still there and cropping that off would only leave his face and that would just make the image stretched having to resize it to fit.

I really like these covers, but after making some and planing to do others in my collection, these type of issues has made me reconsider using them, I just don't know.

I've since last time updated my covers and also added NHL 94, Starwing (the name for Star Fox for the PAL-region), Super Mario All-Stars, Super Star Wars and Yoshi's Island. I would add pictures in this post, but whatever I do, I get the respond "The upload folder is full. Please try a smaller file and/or contact an administrator." Don't know the problem since the picture I try to upload are smaller than 128 kb.

Anyways, all covers can be found in my Dropbox link, down in my Signature.

@Lecrough - When I first put together this template for UGCs, my main focus was on Super Nintendo because I wanted something different from the SNES vertical template on this site. My collection is primarily SNES and N64, and I only have a small handful of NES games.

So admittedly, NES was an afterthought when I made this template. I was thinking in terms of showcasing the horizontal art from SNES and N64, not the vertical NES art when I designed it. At one time I toyed with a SMS/Genesis/32X version of this template, but realized that the vertical art would be a problem there too.

Maybe there needs to be some sort of alternate front design for some NES games? Something that would allow much more art vertically. I haven't had much time to work on covers in a while, but if you guys come up with something, I have no problem with an alternate front design being added to the template..

So I've added Goof Troop and Street Fighter II Turbo for the SNES, both of them PAL versions. Both of them can be found in my Dropbox folder.

So, I've picked up a few more titles recently, and also started into a small NES collection as well (even though I didn't think I would). So I've got a couple more that I intend to get into the pipe:

- Bubble Bobble (NES)
- TMNT II (NES)
(Maybe? Depends on the Discussion around Vertical Artwork)
- TMNT IV (SNES / US)
- Uncharted Waters: New Horizons (SNES)

So I've added Goof Troop and Street Fighter II Turbo for the SNES, both of them PAL versions. Both of them can be found in my Dropbox folder.

Very nice work, BTW. I'm curious if you'd be willing to share the original PSDs if you still have them so US versions could be made more easily? Specifically I'm thinking of TMNT IV, which does need some cleanup because of the different naming in the US vs EU. The others I'm thinking of are Street Fighter II and Goof Troop as there's currently no US versions of the covers. I'd be willing to do the work myself, but it would save me some time if I wasn't starting from scratch. :)

Yeah, vertical art is definitely a challenge for this template. If you wanted to go vertical with it, it's probably doable, but it might not feel right. I may have to play with a couple ideas, but it may not pan out that well.

I haven't abandoned this project, I just had to put it on the back burner for a while....grad school and work are just sucking up most of my free time.

Thank you :) and sorry for the delay. Sure, I can upload the original files, but I did the covers in GIMP. So I had to redo some of the things in the template, such as the text boxes to work in GIMP, so I’m not sure how much work there will be converting them. I’ll upload them to my Dropbox, and you can convert them if you want. It would be cool if you did :)

I have uploaded them to my Dropbox now. If there’s anything missing or something else being strange, let me know.
