So I've been looking around but haven't really been able to find anything on this anywhere. Long story short, a friend of mine has an engraver and laser engraved his 3DS, and it looked really cool. So, I asked if he could do mine. And he screwed up.
I've been trying to look around the web for replacement shells or something for the New 3DS, and it seems that there's no such thing around quite yet. I can only find shells for the original XL. I suppose the question is, does anyone else here know something I don't about finding replacement parts? Or would the top cover plate be able to be modded to be used as a replacement, since the New XL and old XL use the same form factor?

The only part that needs replacing is the outer shell of the top screen (where the camera lenses are).

yikes thats a bummer my friend i think your best bet would be buying a broken one on ebay and saving the rest of it for spare parts also..lets hope your very good with small parts electronic wise because its a pain in the A$$ to replace that part specifically because you have to take both the top half and the bottom half of the console apart if i were you..id just sand down any defects and buy a skin to go over it.. cheapest and easiest solution

If it's gonna be that much of a pain... man. Well either way I have got a skin over it so it's not like the system's currently an eyesore.

The little pieces aren't the problem. It's finding a screwdriver that actually fits the screws good enough to not strip them out.

In the original 3ds there are some screw so tight that they strip really easy. Kinda like the put some Permatex Blue on them or something.
What are you looking at? You think baby's don't like video games? THEN YOU DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT BABIES!!
