What is the status of the site?
(1/2) > >>
WatcherJoshua:
I'm trying to be a productive member, but I've run into some issues contributing that have made me concerned about the status of the site. Can the owner/admins chime in on these topics?

1. There are a lot of stickies that are outdated. Can the old stickies be removed and new versions created? Learning how to contribute properly has been a bit confusing because of conflicting information. For example, I'm not exactly sure how I ought to post images on the forums - the recommended methods do not work.

2. There isn't a way to upload a cover for a game that isn't already listed. I completed a request, using a raw scan, but the Nintendo DS game is not on the list of games and cannot be uploaded.

3. Related to #2, there is not a current way (that I have found) to report that a raw scan has been used to create a cover. The link to see files that have been uploaded (and waiting to be added to the site) returns a 403 error.

4. I understand that the site is updated infrequently, but what's the status on a new version of the site? There has been discussion about it sporadically for years.
wiggy:
Some of the stickies are soooooooooooooo beyond out of date and useless (insomuch as the links contained within are entirely broken in some instances).

tiktektak:
0. Status is that there is no status. It is as it is and will stay like that until snowcone really finds some time to work on a new site. He started several times but didn't get far into it.

For your other points.

1. Yes they need to be updated but if noone has the time they won't.

2. This has beend discussed a gazillion times actually - Just use the next or one before your game in the database.

3. Yes there isn't. What link?

4. See 0.

I'll try updating/creating better ones in certain topics, like contrinuting raws, submitting covers, why and how submit your first submission thru boards, what we look in covers (I'll do SNES Vertical version, but it also applies to other ones to a extent), creating N64 green spine (and maybe yellow background) in Paint.net (I'll also try to combin the Photoshop instruction in to this) and maybe some others.

STARTING TOMORROW I HAVE 3 NIGHT SHIFTS WHEN I SHOULD HAVE SOME SPARE TIME.

List the cover as the next one in alhpabetical order, Admins anywat have to rename the cover when approving.

Raw section has been busted since we (as in the big boss) had to take secutity measures some years ago.
We submit raws on the boards and try to do them in organized way, but then some one decides to make request in the raw providing topic and it gets messy.
I have one of my own that is locked but then only mods can post in to them... so locking doesn't work.
I'll try to figure something out.

I think it's pretty much [name of epic movie starring Vivien Leigh, Clark Gable, Leslie Howard and Olivia de Havilland]. :(

The site is "designed" to look out dated.... helps keep more stragglers away.  ;) ;)
