This is probably a stupid question, but is there any way to download an archive of the entire retail box art collection for a specific console?

I guess I could go searching for games one by one, but would be much easier to grab the entire collection.

Been asked a million times before. No.  The site couldn't handle that sort of hit on the bandwidth.

I think a cover seller would probably just pay someone to write a scraper :P

Why not create a public torrent and link it on the main page?

People actually sell game covers that can be downloaded for free?

Wouldn't making them more difficult to gather freely increase the sales?

Is that your game?

Way to welcome yourself to the site - accuse the admins of making a quick buck off other people's work.  Obviously you're new around here, as if you weren't you'd know how far from the truth that was.  If that's going to be the attitude you bring to the site, do us a favour and close the door on the way out would you!

If on the other hand you actually have any positivity/creativity to add, welcome, look forward to seeing your creations.  ::)

Just trying to figure out why there is an incentive to prevent the covers from being accessed in bulk, sorry if I came off confrontational.

Honestly I don't really care what you do either way, I decided to just mirror the site to get them. Not very efficient, but better than hunting them down one by one by hand.

From experience, 99% of people who request some way to download every single cover are planning to sell the covers for profit.  Very few people own every single game, and therefore it's rare for any one person to actually need every single cover.  Therefore, there is no method to download every cover at once.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

Would you all be opposed if I mirror the site, fuzzyrename the covers to match the corresponding roms, then archive and upload them to a public tracker?

Maybe a couple different sets, one with all the images bulk cropped to get seperate fronts and backs

I think you'd find most of the artists here would be against it.  We are about collecting the physical media, and preserving the artwork - not piracy.  However, were not naive enough to think we can stop anyone doing it.  As far as I'm concerned, if I put something out there on the net, I give up any attachment to it.  Fill your boots, but not with a clean conscience.  That isn't why I create covers.

Best way to preserve the artwork is to make it widespread no?
